This might sound like a stupid question to some, but whatever. Ok, the other side of the globe is a day ahead of us, right? So, its Sunday over there now due to time zones, etc. It takes approx 23 hrs by plane to travel from America to Africa. If I got this right... if you left the U.S. Monday morning; by the time you got to Africa it would be Wednesday morning over there and Tuesday back in the U.S. As I understand it, you can't physically/literally travel back and forth thru time. I don't believe time travel is possible. But, during the plane ride what happened to Tuesday? I don't get it.

No, your first point is wrong. The other side of the world is only half a day ahead of you. And that is if you are in America. If you were in Africa, the other side of the world would be half a day behind you.

What you need to look into is the International Date line. Cross it going east you lose a day, cross it going west and you gain a day. So instead of flying 23 hours just fly from Hawaii to Fiji.
