Make sure you don't have a Vitamin K deficiency. If you smoke or indulge in nose-picking, stop doing that. Make sure your indoors are not dry (use a humidifier at night in your bedroom).

See your doctor if the bleeding is prolonged (more than 15 minutes), regular or was caused by an injury.

Nosebleeds are easy to fix.

When you get one, sit straight up, tilt your head forward, about level with your heart (this actually slows the bleeding and prevents the blood from going into your stomach which can cause stomach upset including nausea, diarrhea, and the potential for vomiting). Then pinch the soft sides of your nose (the sides that flare out at the base) GENTLY for about 5 minutes. Remove the fingers and if the nose starts bleeding again, hold it for 10.

If 10 doesn't do it, you'll need to apply a cold compress to it to shrink the blood vessels and stop the flow of blood and then as soon as you can, see a doctor. A nosebleed should be able to be stopped in that position in no more than 5 minutes. If you've gone 10 and its still there or if you get rid of it and it comes back a few hours later, something else is going on.

Nosebleeds are common in the winter but they can also indicate something else going on, particularly, allergies.

And whatever you do, DO NOT PUT YOUR HEAD UNDER THE SINK as was suggested. This will cause the blood flow to increase to the site of the problem and can also promote sinus infection if there was anything lingering in the water or around the spout on the water faucet!

Dry air is dehydrating your nose. The dry tissues crack the vessels coming from the sinus floor. I had mine cauterized to stop frequent nose bleeds in the winter and from a rise in blood pressure. I was very happy with the results after healing. One thing I wish I'd had tried is warm nasal rinse.

Try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean). I've been doing it at work too. I use the water right out of the warm tap, add some salt from a packet in my pocket.

Buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot

You can do this as often as you like with no side effects.

You don’t need a prescription for this therapy. So if you live in a state like mine, they’ve pretty much “outlawed” sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis. (I put in a link for “what” and “how” – there’s also some good info on wiki)

sit with your head between your legs and pinch the top of your nose. Do NOT put your head back like some people tell you - it will make the blood run back through your throat and into your mouth. Nose bleeds can be from sinus problems, but to be safe get it checked out. A cold pack at the bridge of your nose will help.

try to stay in room temperature conditions and reduce drinking too much milk! I know because I had the same problem! and if your nose doesn't stop bleeding take a cold shower or put your head under the sink while running cold water!

Sounds like a vitamin C, Vitamin K and Bioflavonoids deficiency. Try including more Vitamin C and K rich foods in your diet ie:- Citrus fruits, tomatoes, potatoes, cabage, green peppers, (Vitamin C)

Vitamin K - Yohgurt, alfalfa, soybean oil, fish-liver oils, kelp.

Bioflavonoids - Orange, lemon, lime, tangerine peels.

Otherwise, simply get yourself a good quality Vitamin C supplement from the chemist. Just ask the pharmacist for a good quality brand to buy. Avoid synthetic vitamins, too hard to digest, and get the sugarless C tablets.

Another symptom you are probably suffering from is unexplained bruising over your body ???

PEACE

Try lying on your other side, see if that helps. Consult your doctor if it doesn't stop. I think you can use balls of cotton or something, but the blood will clutter in your nose then propably and it will flow back into your mouth.
