She said the bible is HOLY and it should be reserved for bedtime reading, when we are less vulnerable to temptations and sins. That was almost 15 yrs ago, a bookworm kid who ran out of books and thought the bible might be available to read....What is your arguments on this?

She didn't necessarily recommend to read it half asleep (nonsense) but I understood she meant night time as the most suitable best part of day.

I am sure that your Aunt meant well. But one can read the Bible at any time of the day or night. We read it in Church on Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wed. night. And we should as good Christians read it any time we want to. Maybe your Aunt was referring to reading the Bible for bedtime devotions.God Bless and happy reading!

This is the first time in my life I have ever heard the argument that the Bible should only be read at bedtime. I have to disagree with your aunt. What could be wrong with reading Scripture in the morning? Many people do that as a way to start their day. In fact, if it is holy, then why wouldn't you read it carefully at a time of day when you are most alert, and not at bedtime when you are falling asleep?

So, its Nice question to be noticed.
As you are dealing with Bible, I am ready to convience you that it is not necessary advice that "We should read bible in bed time"
Take Jesus christ, when he was going through, the parasies(Holy men) asked him " Your disciple are not washing their hands before eating, why are they are unclean they asked"
But jesus said "How do you think, the things that Going into the Mouth or things coming out of the Mouth, which is unclean?"
So, this statement gives an answer, its not probably the matter you should read the Bible only in "Bed time" or only in "Day time", its the matter of whole Devotion, so concentrating what we read, and developing an intrest can make the Difference

I've never heard this either. Strange. My granny told me that she too was a bookworm kid looking for something to read when she picked up the bible and began reading it. Since she could not understand a lot of it she started questioning her father, whom she thought knew everything. This was her first major disillusionment, finding that her father did not know everything, her father referred her to the priest. The priest then instructed her parents to take the bible away from her and not allow her to read it. Now both she and her dad were disillusioned.

Whenever you have a question about the Bible, that is the very place you should look for your answer. James 4:7 says, "Submit yourselves to God," in all ways including reading your Bible at all hours and, "Praying without ceasing," is not only Biblical, but a very smart way to conduct your life

Where in the teaching of Jesus does it say we should only read the bible at night?
It's another of man made rules that make people angry that a beleif is forced onto them.

Did you try "Lord Of the Rings" ? I find it much more interesting. For your aunt, holy meant boring probably. She used the Bible reading to fall asleep rapidly perhaps.
