If you are caught by the police for something that they have no proof of but it SEEMS that you're the one that caused it (you could be not as well) are you better off admitting the accusations or not?

I'm not talking about major crimes! For example if a cop comes to you and tells you "I saw you doing that.." and you may or may not have done it, what is best to do at that time? Can if you refuse, can the cop prove otherwise just by saying "I saw him.."

Keep mum and ask for an attorney.

The truth is if you are not guilty of a crime, you should not confess to committing the crime. However, if you really are the one who committed a crime, it is better to confess and accept your punishment than to make extra efforts to lie, spend needless money and other resources and possibly have an innocent person implicated in a crime that person did not commit. The best thing to do is seek the advice of a good, experienced attorney if you are innocent and do not plead guilty to anything you did NOT do. If you are caught by the police in the act, no amount of confession, counter claiming or silence is going to make you innocent because you DID it. Never participate in any activities you know to be illegal because the truth is always the same and it has a way of coming out. You are better off to confess with respect to the emotional anguish you will subject yourself to by trying to cover up the truth continually. Each lie you tell will lead to another lie and eventually, you will lose track of your own lies.

My answer would be to cooperate, but don't admit anything, talk to a lawyer.

In a perfect world I would simply tell the truth, but this is not a perfect world. You will be on trial based on laws, and the laws even though some people might think that is the same as being on trial to judge Truth Justice and that sort of thing it is not, they are just laws and may or may not be that great and when the lawyers get finished with them they are not even what the were intended.

And remember they are not kidding when they read you your rights and tell you "anything you say can be used against you"

There are two ways to look at this... legally or morally. By admitting it you may face penalties but at least you're not being a coward hiding behind a lawyer. Unfortuantely honor is given little worth in todays society. The best advice is don't commit the crime in the first place.

Although I was a police officer, always wait for an attorney, never admit or talk to anyone without legal advice

Assuming you did it - I would go ahead and admit -
YEAH you got me - and take the one charge

because if there is a laundry list of the crap -
they will hit you with their best shot for all - if you stonewall them

they MAY let you slide on a couple, if you are cooperative

be wise! and don't do the crime - the TIME ain't worth it!

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! and NO! Definitely DO NOT admit to anything! That's why we have "Miranda Rights". You might be charged with way more than you think you are being charged for. If you are not going to jail-shut up. If you are being arrested, shut up and talk only to an attorney! Shhhhhh! Say Nothing, Admit nothing.

Get a lawyer. They will try to charge you with more than you have done, and you need the bargaining power and advice that an attorney can provide.

If you WANT a conviction on your record for life.

Never admit to anything, get a lawyer.

If you think they are being hard on you now, wait until you are convicted of a crime.

Go talk to a lawyer, most criminal lawyers will give you one free consultation.

I've decided if I ever have to defend myself, I'm going to say I'm the victim, there's the evidence, I'm willing to swear out a complaint, and I'm willing to give a statement in 24 hrs after talking to council.

On Hogans Hero's, Sgt Schultz would say, "I know nothing!"

You should do the same, let the cop make the case not you.
