to get away from the problems people have in their life. While they are on the drug, they are soo much happier. when it wears off it makes reality seem even worse and makes them want it again and more often. its a sad thing.

I think some people just have a naturally addictive personality. A friend of mine used to smoke a lot of drugs, he managed to get out of the habit. After that he was constantly buying lottery tickets and scratch cards. Then he developed a drink problem. Now he's sorting out his drink problem and has moved on to a serious need for constant coffee.

Different people take drugs for different reasons.
It depends on what they need to achieve in their own minds. Some people want to stay up all night studying so they drink lots of coffee. That's just as much a drug as something like ecstasy or marijuana. It all depends on the person and whay they want to get out of it.

some people need or think they need an escape from reality for some reason or other and drugs in some cases provide this escape from reality.
Or it could just be curiosity and trying to fit in with friends which leads to peer pressure. Just some reasons why people take drugs.

There are a number of different reasons. Here are some I know:
- Because they think it will help them cope with problems and overcome stress
-Because they want to join a certain group, or do not want to feel left out by friends who are using drugs
-Because they think it heightens their creativity and helps them concentrate their attention (an effect some drugs are known to have, but with very serious side effects)
-Because they simply want to have a good time
-Because they are curious
-Because drugs are readily available to them
-Because (especially in the case of younger users) they want to do something "forbidden" or "wrong" ; i.e. rebel
-Out of boredom.

People who use drugs, including alcohol, do so because they like what the drugs do to their brains. All drugs of abuse, from alcohol to nicotine to heroin, cause a series of temporary changes in the brain that produce the "high.IN THE BODY

to have fun and to understand people from their perspective. it gives you a chance to look at how the world has gotten and theorize stuff. im talking about mushrooms, pot, lsd, mescaline, salvia. i dont like coke meth heroin or pcp.-people who do those are low lifes, they have to have someone else control their life. usually a kids parent or parents use drugs around them, maybe alcohol too. they are brought up in a home where the father is abusing his wife, drunk and they eventually split up and get a divorce. Not to mention the custody battle that follows and the kid gets dragged back and forth all the time.
