I'm not sure if it's the mono resurfacing, my depression/bipolar acting up, or some horrible combo meal. Aside from the stress caused by my life starting to fall apart since I've had trouble showing up for it, the actual depression and anxiety are relatively fine. It's just the extreme tiredness that is keeping me from functioning. Once I'm actually out of bed, I'm mostly OK, but I need help with concrete ways to actually wake up in the morning and start moving. It seems like it should be simple, but I'm afraid it's the most complicated problem I've run into recently. If you understand where I'm coming from, please help me! I appreciate it!

I have tested positive for the Epstein-Barr virus and have had similar recurrences in the past which eventually subsided. This time, however, the exhaustion seems more severe.
I have multiple alarm clocks with loud obnoxious buzzers set for staggared times across my bedroom. The problem here is that I sleep through them (even my vibrating cell phone under my pillow) and wake up hours later with no recollection of them ringing.

I find that sleeping in room with cooler than usual air helps.
People run the heat too high, in my opinion.
And get out in the sun more.

Perhaps you've got Ebarr, but a positive anti-body test doesn't rule out other things. One can test positive for HIV and it's malaria. Be careful with lab tests. In some helmethics chances of getting a positive are less than 20% even if your obviously ill. Clinicians really rely upon the lab, a lot of diagnosis is made on the basis of lab test, with little or no collaboration from the symptoms. Some of what you say is classic symptoms for tens of hundreds of different conditions, but the final must include your history, and your behavior patterns, smoking, drinking, wild sex, many partners, drug abuse, or none of the above. Off the cuff, I'd say you need to be checked for parasites. Nestor Americanus comes to mind. If your anemic, do a series. Many types of bugs available these days. Tongue worms, and hook worm, and various types of things like that, are epidemic right now, Have you traveled inside, or outside the USA? To wake up, set your alarm system, and that system is the TV, a light, and stereo all to come on at the same time, and they don't go off till you get up and walk over and turn them off. Best

You mention that you had mono. Have you been tested for Epstein-Barr virus? It's related to mono and can be responsible for some of what you're describing here. Might also be Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (not related to EB virus).
How to get out of bed the hard way:
- Set alarm
- Place alarm on other side of room
- Get up to turn off alarm in the morning
- Go to the bathroom
- Turn on TV for a few minutes
And you know how if you stay up for more than a few minutes you lose that sleepy feeling and can't get back to sleep? It works.

Depression can be the cause of this, I know I suffer from it too. You need something to look forward too and something to motivate you and help you get through the day. Find something you love doing and this will help and maybe see a councilor and get into a course , something that interests you. Good Luck with everything
