For the first time in my life I am aware that laziness was all my problem that i thought about to solve for years. So what causes laziness and how do i get out of it and is there a cure for it? Thanks a bunch.

Hahahahaha.
I would sooo like to know the answer to this but having been a lazy bone most of my life ( as well as a serious procrastinator) I can tell you this much, Nothing really causes laziness, at least you can put a finger on per say. It's not one of those moods or something or present states that you can explain.
Uhmm...I say when you make a lot of mistakes due to laziness you kind of begin to do the things you need to do. I mean for example I have an exam and I'm so lazy don't want to study and I also have a paper and a lab report due. In the past my laziness cost me so now I'm still lazy but I don't want to make the same mistake so I get my *** up.
I think what I'm trying to say is figure out things you can afford to be lazy about....lol (does that make sense?). Some people are like ever hard working and stuff like that and it's good, those are, most of the time, the people that succeed in life but for those of us who aren't well.........
Try not to procrastinate, prioritize (that really helps) and don't be lazy when you really don't feel lazy (Kinda like when your tryna loose wait don't eat unless you're hungry, sometimes we just feel like eating we're not really hungry or even hungry at all)

P.S If there really is something that causes laziness I would love to know too :')

Cause Of Laziness

I think there may be a biological or genetic reason for this. Thyroid problems and other health problems can cause lethargy so you might want to get a check up. There are also scientists who think that there is a genetic component to laziness (or those who delight NOT in the world of fitness). I always thought that because I was always overweight and slow as a child (even reaching my milestones as a baby), I hated sports and I was more keen on doing quieter things unlike my mom; a dodge ball maniac and more like my father who becomes significantly overweight if he's not pushed into manual labor.

I also have a baby girl (7 mos.) and I can see that she is going to be lazy. She doesn't seem to have the drive to do the things that other babies are doing, like trying to crawl when she's on her belly- or making any effort at rolling over or sitting up. It's breaking my heart. I'm more active now and I'm trying to show her that moving around is fun but I don't think that environment influences a child at this point. So there definitely might be something genetic that influences the drive/ambition part of the brain.

well..i'm figuring about that one too. maybe the main cause could be procrastination.
but hey..the more you ponder about what causes laziness, the more you are there, doing nothing. i've experienced that don't-feel-like doing-it feelings too. everyone does, sometimes or most of the time.
to get yourself motivated to do something, first, list the things that you want to do. to-do-list, in other words.
like me, after i list down all the things that i want to do, i will prioritize, first thing first.
if not, do the easiest thing first. and followed up by the more difficult task.
and..most importantly, don't forget to reward yourself.
for example, if i managed to fight my laziness and did my assignments for instance, i'll treat myself a bar of chocolate or anything that could make me happy.

all the best to you~

I think man's natural tendency is to be lazy unless there is a driving factor for him to be otherwise. I am a bit on the lazy side until springtime comes and I get out and work in my vegetable garden. I think the go-getters have just discovered that when you get up and just do it, you get a lot done and go places. Those of us who just sit there and think about it, well, we just keep sitting there thinking about it!

I struggled deeply in my teens and 20s with laziness and this is how I overcame it for good. 1st, I stopped hating myself and feeling guilty about it by taking the time to understand it instead of fight it. We do not choose to be lazy... its a natural habitual reaction to consistent pressure and failure. It means that our innate enthusiasm and curiosity for life was squanshed greatly in our development from constant abuse or negative feedback from the environment we grew up in: i.e. from family, peers, community, and greater authorities. Others are constantly asking us to do more and be more but our inner voice tells us "NO! I want to be left alone." Its a form of grieving, depression and passive rebellion.

After this is understood I was then able to know the difference between what I truly want to do for myself vs doing things out of pressure from others. It is more than OK to be selfish as long as what we do does not harm others.

In short... embrace your isolation. Take that time to escape for a bit but at some point you must dig deeper and know really why you are there. Then start to invest in learning about what you selfishly desire and start developing that momentum of going after it every day. Cease the day and recapture your God given enthusiasm for the only life you have!

Much Love!

are u sure you dont have depression? keep in mind that you dont really have to have anything going wrong in your life - and your body can still be depressed. depression tends to make the body feel real lazy and mopy - and lots of depressed people have trouble getting motived... Good luck with that
