There are different reasons that people are lazy. You need to be honest with yourself and determine what your reasons are and if you want to do anything about it.
At times I have been lazy out of fear. I feared rejection or that my work would not be good enough - avoiding doing it altogether allowed me to not be judged. Putting it off til the last minute allowed me to have an excuse for why it sucked.
I have been lazy because I was fat - I used this as my excuse for not doing anything - for sitting around for days at a time - no showers, no cleaning, no basic hygiene etc.
I have been lazy at times because others enabled me and allowed me to act this way. I had my roommates trained - I tossed a $20 bill on the floor, and they jumped to retrieve it. The one that retrieved it would then serve me rum n cokes (my favorite drink) and food and whatever else I wanted all night long. I could look over at them, shake my empty glass, and know it would be filled or replaced in no time.
I have been lazy because I was depressed.
I have been lazy because I have a bad back. I have used this as a crutch at times when it seemed like something was more work than it was worth.
For some people, their thyroid completely stops working and this can lead to obesity and laziness.
Okay, so as far as a cure - GET UP AND DO SOMETHING : ). You get out of it by refusing to be lazy.
Here's one idea:
Make a list of 2 things you have to accomplish tomorrow. I don't care if they are easy or hard, but DO THEM. For example, my list contained this, "1 - Take a shower. 2 - Brush my teeth." On the second day, add one more thing to this list. I added, "Put on clean clothes." Each day, add one more thing to your list - you can replace behaviors - just make sure on day 1 you have 2 things to do, on day 2 - 3 things, day 3 - 4 things etc. Eventually you will be doing enough stuff that you won't be considered lazy.
I must insist that you visit this LAZY website from the Uncyclopedia - http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Lazy
-- I was looking for reasons other than my own for being lazy, and I laughed so hard at how to play the lazy game - especially as this seemed to reflect what i was talking about above when I toss out the $20.
one more thing - as far as a cure - I told the doc that I had no motivation - he gave me lots of amphetamines - I was wired - friends that I promise I did not share these with, accomplished all kinds of things - they ran around with never-ending energy like crazy. I still laid there and did nothing for days on end - my brain was a little wired and little sleep was needed, but it did not 'cure' my laziness .

Could be depression, lack of motivation, lack of interest, boredom. For the cure? Try to determine the cause/reason first and than get the right treatment...

The cure is Ritalin, my friend. have you heard of the book called, "I'm not lazy, crazy, stupid or bored?" It is about ADD. Try it, at least, it works. Ritalin improves the performance in even people without ADD.

Lack of motivation. Ask one of your friends to "kick you in the butt" so that you'll wake up and try to do something. Sometimes we need a little encouragement from people close to us.
