is eye contact a sign of physical attraction?

in some places in Germany such as restaurants/bars, some women make repeated eye contact with me.

while walking towards each other, some women stare at me until when cross each other.

is it a normal thing that they do with foreigners (curious about people from different parts of the world) or is it a sign of physical attraction?

I'm not familiar with their culture and still do not know their language and so I'm very hesitant when it comes to approaching them.

well, some are smiling, some just stare while talking with their friends.

I sometimes think that it's a hint that i should talk to them but then I may be wrong

It really depends on HOW they're looking at you. If you can tell that they're definatly not trying to give you dirty looks, then they're probably making eye contact to give you a hint.

Eye contact can also be a sign that the woman is not at all interested, she could think you look like an obsessive stalker waiting to happen and she's so freaked out by your vibes that she can't help but stare at you like you're a bug or something... Never read too much into eye contact.

There is no harm in speaking to a woman, if she's interested in you or not, you'll know. Don't speak and you'll wonder forever.

It could be. I have had people staring at me deliberately and quite often I have felt that mentally they are undressing me. Or they are trying to say something but at the same time thinking something else and not wanting to appear rude, they keep staring. You can usually tell what the person is doing by the way they use their eyes. Yes, even express their physical attraction.

I think prolonged eye contact and smiling is a good sign, at least it has been for me when girls done that to me....then again if your drunk w/ snots running down your nose and morbidly obese, i think anyone will give you eye contact untill your out of the picture...for their saftey of coarse.... At least in the states...i can't vouch for Germany...

it could mean many things. like maybe you look out of place and they're looking at you wondering what you're doing there in the first place.
it could mean that they are attracted to you, but most likely not.
