Personally no - it's just not worth the risk - and three points on the license costs loads in insurance fees. And I have to say I've seen very few people using mobiles at the wheel since the new penalties came in.

Far too many have dis-regarded the law ,
on the use of mobile phones when driving ....

Why do they do that !!!
Do they feel that they are, "above the law"!

People think ,that because they are, inside their own vehicle, they have the right , to do exactly as they want ,

regardless of the serious danger,
they put themselves and other road users to .

They are driving, without due care and attention.
And will sooner or later be caught and charged .

Even eating a sandwich or a chocolate bar while driving , can detract ,from safe driving ., and is also an offence

VARIABLE PENALTY POINTS ---3 to 9
AND POSSIBLE DRIVING BAN

Driving with Due Care And Attention

I am in the UK and see it every day ... and these people are sitting ducks for the roadside police checks .... they simply feel it is more important to talk than drive! And yesterday, I read about a guy prosecuted under the same mobile phone law for eating a sandwich .... we all know that we shouldn't talk while we eat! Anyway, just spent a week in New York and they beat us hands down for using the mobile phone at the wheel .... perhaps it's all that time spent in gridlock traffic, more time to talk!

Personally I don't use a cell phone while driving. In fact, my phone isn't turned on until I need to call someone (while driving).
But, I see Cops using them all the time. Whats up with that?
I think it is a good law though. Something needed to happen.
A friend of mine put letters on the front of his vehicle. "Hang up and drive" (in reverse like an ambulance would)

I have seen quite a few doing so around Huddersfield, and coming back from Rochdale on the M62 a couple of days ago I lost count of how many drivers were using their mobiles.
Total idiots all of them.

EDIT!!!
Just seen this

Officer caught using mobile.

I wouldn't use my mobile while cycling, it would interfer with the headphones carrying the BBC radio 4 sound into my ears.
