The emphasis is being put on Mexican illegal immigrants because they make up more than 85% of the illegals in this country but illegals from any nation are not well received how about the hundreds of thousands on the east coast from Brazil,El Salvador,Guatemala but again most of these illegals come through the Mexican border, there are also lots of Chinese,Russian,Haitian but all of these countries make up less than 20% of the illegals that's why you hear more about Mexico.Notice how I say Illegals because I don't hear allot of people talking about stopping legal immigrants which you refered to in your question.

Mexicans are already over flooded in the USA and Mexico is a friendly nation to USA. But for Cuba, the picture is still different. So, more influx of the Cubans in the USA would make the Cubans more dependants to the USA that would help the USA to handle the Cuban politics and economy better in the coming days.

Yeah, I am concern of it too, but I live in California, so Mexicans are more important. I don't trust asylum seakers. THere are a lot of terrorist activities among the Cuban people. I checked Wikepedia and there is a decent list (far larger than I expected) on Cuban-Americans responsible for bombings in the US. As a Californian I am far more concern of the VIetnamese. THere was a recent attack by a vietnamese-AMerican, because AMerica is begining to have relations with Vietnam. I was also upset that they diminsh our freedom of speech, by adding laws to prevent people expressing pro-communist beliefs. Asylum seekers, do not come from countries who has a good understanding on how democracy works. A majority of them are fine, but it seems that an unusual high percent hold on to their violent pass. Also they do not come to become Americans. As for the Cubans as a community, they tried to steal a kid from his rightful father in the name of fighting communism. I'm not saying to reject them or put them in a refugee camp, but something should be done to those who carryout act of violence from the US. I think part of the problem was we tolerated it in the past.

Because Mexicans are invading at a higher number and it is much easier to sneak over the border instead of coming over by boat!

I highly doubt that thousands of Cubans are coming to America on a daily basis!!!!

Or about all the aliens that come in with a student visa as a disguise and end up staying after their visa expires, still working, getting income tax checks back illegally with fake social security cards, and the government knows exactly where they live and ain't doing **** about them. They r all over the U.S. working for many of our companies who don't care about their legal status and don't ask. I know several of them decent as they may be they r illegals and just as much law breakers as those crossing both Mexican and Canadian borders who by the way because they r white r not being monitored as much or as closely as the Mexican border.

Because that is asylum, and the doctrine was developed before illegal immigration was such a huge problem. When Castro dies, the policy may change, but it depends on what happens there.

Right now, if they are 'dry foot' on land, they can typically get asylum and be legally here.

Legal vs. illegal.

We have a right to say who comes and how many come.

The numbers no where near compare. Besides if the Cubans actually make it land they are allowed to stay with government approval.
