You have left it a bit late to be looking for a flight just before Easter, people usually book up months in advance but visit a reputable travel agent and If they are any good at their job should be able to find you a bit cheaper but most flights for these dates will be pretty full..........it is there autumn now and one of the best times to visit.

If you have a few days to spare, try leaving it until the REALLY last minute, and look for stand-by.
Also, check out deals to Australia from mainland Europe - you could always get a Ryanair or some other cheap short hop to connect.

Become a courier.
Basically you take some documents over there for a company and in return you get a ticket to say australia for 400 quid or so. Sometimes cheaper if desperate!

Some airlines have 'happy hours' for cheaper flights - usually around lunch time - you could always try your luck that way for a cheaper deal.
