Purchase an item called the Paper Tiger. Gently but thoroughly scour the walls with the Paper Tiger. Then spray (saturate) the area you scoured with a product called Diff and allow that to sit for about 15 minutes. Gently remove wall paper with a putty knife. You can purchase the Paper Tiger and Diff at stores like Home Depot or Lowe's. You can also make a product similar to Diff by adding 1/2 cup of fabric softner to a 1/2 cup of water into a spray bottle.

Good luck!

the easiest way to remove vinyl wall paper is to peel up the first layer, the paper will leave the other half of the paper glued to the wall still, next get a thompson sprayer with warm water and saturate the wall. leave the water on and let it soak into the paper then with a plastic putty knife you should be able to scrape it off.

Steamers are ok but they can get very heavy after a while, and as another poster said plaster can come off as well if it isn't that stable, but you wont know that till you take the paper off!

I always lightly score the paper first, then spray warm soapy water on it, leave it for a little while and then go and scrap it off, which it does quite easily.

DO NOT USE A STEAMER....THEY ARE THE PLASTERS BEST FRIEND!!!!!!Steamers can be vicious, get the plaster hot and blow it off...
If its a Vynl paper, peel the vynl layer off, if its been painted over score with a knife, then, (I use a "killaspray"..garden sprayer) wet the paper , leave to soak,... I generally go round 2 or 3 times with a spray, have a cuppa, spray again and it all falls off....without taking the plaster off using a wide blade knife

I am DIY phobic but I managed to tackle wallpaper stripping with the help of an electric steamer - it made the job so much easier and faster. Just hold it on the wallpaper for a few moments and hey presto, it almost falls off. Good luck!!!

Hi there Toks, Completely soak the wallpaper in warm soapy water (using washing up liquid and an old sponge), leave it to soak in for a few minutes, and it should peel off easily. :o)

Hire a steam machine, it will be 10 times quicker than any other method.
