I travel a lot alone and with others on business and pleasure. I have several friends who I travel well with, but still take trips by myself, usually just when it is easier or things I want to do, or when others don't have time or money when I want to go.

Traveling alone gives you lots of time to think, ponder and reflect. You are free from mindless chat and entertaining others.

You can do what you want, when you want. Eat when you want, sleep when you want, stop to smell the roses when you want, or rush by the boring stuff. You don't have to worry what others want to do or worry about what they think.

You don't have to worry about your bad habits, other peoples bad habits, or even just different habits. (Smokers, snorers, morning people verses night owls)

Sometimes you can get into transportation, restaurants, concerts or events that are otherwise are full, but can quickly accommodate or seat a single person when they can't seat a group - even if it is a group of 2. I have gone to many sports events and concerts when traveling alone.

Flexibility, satisfying your own interests and whims without compromise, Following and changing your own schedule or no schedule at all. without discussing it. Sleeping in or getting up early, trying new things that appeal to you.

Do your homework to find single traveler lodging and attractions when you travel for the best time.

We do special things for singles, male or female travel ling alone in our business and many others do too as it is still part of our culture to offer single travelers a little more attention and effort to be sure they enjoy themselves if they want it or to leave them to their own devices if they don't.

In my experience virtually everyone likes honest attention with no motivation other than seeing that the traveler feels safe and has a pleasant time which is perhaps the greatest advantage of all.

I learned this from travel ling alone both here and abroad as well as operating several tourist businesses for lodging, cruises, motor tours and more.

The key to being treated well is to remember the rule.. Treat others as you would like to be treated and it works most every time in every place.
Good Luck, have fun and don't be afraid to try new things in new places just look before you leap.

I do a lot of traveling alone..

Firstly, I love that I don't have to worry about
the other person not having the right paperwork..
Nobody relies on me for anything..

Obviously less waiting..

You can stop places that other people might
not find interesting.

You dont need to deal with annoying nagging...

A big disadvantage of being alone is the
possibility that you'll get "jumped" or something.

In some countries, if people think you come
from the US or something they think you have money..

Also, theres no one to talk to, unless you can make
friends.. No one to take pictures of you in front
of cool locations..

Nobody to watch your crap while you go to the bathroom...

Eh, I tried..
