I recently posted a question regarding the jack russell/min pin mix I intend to create in the near future. In it I clearly specified that I will allow only ONE litter and I can personally guarantee that each new dog will have a secure home in my family, where they will not be bred. No one getting a dog would have gotten one otherwise. They only want a dog because it is a product of my two little sweeties. I am depriving no shelter dog of a home. I specified that they will not be put in a show ring or be given to anyone I don't know. I am positive that none of them nor their descendants will end up in a shelter. I made all of these things clear in the process of asking my question, yet I still received a slew of criticism from people who apparently neglected to read my question in it's entirety. Less than ½ even answered my actual question. If anyone has a logical reason why I shouldn't breed my dogs please feel free to im or email me I am open minded and would love to hear it.

Haha mushroompumpkin can't even spell "vegetarian." She's been sending me retarded messages and getting pissed it's amusing.

Pntup~ I mentioned the show ring because last time I got a lot of people informing me that no dog should be bred if it can't be shown, so I wanted to clarify that my intention is not to breed show dogs. As for the shelter, for the love of God read the question. I'm not giving puppies to anyone who was considering adopting a shelter dog.

Omg like mushroompumpkin has any room to criticize trunka t. You can't read yourself or you wouldn't have responded so ignorantly to my questions. or misspelled simple words.

Well-i complletly agree...............WITH YOU!
****I'm sorry, poeple of yahoo answers but i just do!
I'm probly going to get alot of thumbs down for this answer but being my opinion-wich i am intitled to...here is what i have to say~*****

The part that cought my eye the most was "want a dog because it is a product of my two little sweeties"
I understand that compleetly-and if they want no other dog...then you should go ahead with your plan,as long as you stick to all you above promisise! Most poeple on here see the word "breed" and have a mental breakdown! I dont recomend doing so-but you have a fine reason and you have all the plans worked out!As long as in NO way your too dogs get harmened(like FORCING them to breed) and you have the money, time and love to care for this ONE littler it will be ok!Make sure you get Them both fixed after the litter is over and done with! And even if you dont want to show-or you cant show, you can still take them to little local "dag park compitions" for some fun!And maybe bring back a blue ribbon :)

Now for logicall reasons why you shouldnt breed-
If either dog has blood problems, eye problems or heart problems. It could kill or defect the puppys!

****If they are both MERELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!***
you will produce 1/4 of them as lethal whites-wich can be blind and/or deaf!!you didnt say what breed they where but please dont do it if they are merls!

If either of them are Very old-or if the male is much larger than the female-the puppies could be too big to have a proper birth!

thats about all the donts i can think of!But before you do anything-i would take them both to the vet to have a good checkup and to see if it is ok!The vet will know if its ok or not!

good luck-i hope this helps!! P.s. im sorry about all the mispelled words--im in a hurry out the door for an apiontment so sorry :)

Because the delibrate breeding of mixes is irresponsible. Because you aren't breeding to better or advance a breed.Because you don't know any health history behind the dogs you are breeding. Because while most dogs..mixes and purebreds..are sweet dogs it doesn't mean they should be bred. Because none of the puppies will turn out like either parent..each dog is an individual even those from the same litter..each puppy will take on it's own personality and it's own characteristics and being a mix there will be no way to even have an idea on what that will be.Because there is no way you can guarantee that any of your puppies will never be bred (you've considering breeding aren't you?) nor is there ANY way to guarantee that any of your puppies or decendants of those puppies will not end up in a shelter or rescue.

Breeding is not just letting 2 dogs mate. Regardless of the fact that you are not doing it to better any breed, what tests have you done for any genetic diseases? What are your plans in the event of complications and surgery that will cost you quite a bit of money? The initial vet visit for new puppies alone will cost you hundreds of dollars as well. What if the mother cannot nurse for some reason? Can you bottle feed each puppy every 2 hours around the clock for 6 weeks?

They only want a dog because it would be a product of yours concerns me...not a good enough reason.

i agree with vermonkill there are too many unwanted pets in this world and you want to contribute to more. People are just against the unethical breeding and tired of the unwanted pets in shelters, dumped off beside the road, and being mistreated and abused. This is the best logical reason there is.... Dont breed any more mutts that will more than likely be abandoned into a shelter or rescue organization. If you do not like the comments people make then you should not post a question that you know was going to give you many different answers and comments. People have the right to their own opinion.

It's not a matter of people being against breeding, it's more so against backyard breeders / irresponsible breeders that are breeding to make money.
They do no health testing to ensure the dogs being bred are healthy enough themselves to have pups, and they are not passing along hereditary disorders/ diseases.
Then there are those that are purposely breeding mixed breed dogs. They do not have less health issues than a purebred dog... you're actually taking health issues of 2 different breeds and throwing them together!
Reputable breeders do health testing on all their breeding dogs, screen potential homes, rescue their own if the need arises. They breed WITHIN standard and for the betterment or a particular breed. Not just to line their pockets. It takes about $6,000 to produce a first litter and that doesn't include incidentals.

Just because you have a "cute" dog doesn't mean they are breeding quality.

I have never heard of people against dog breeding, unless you are trying to mate a human with a dog and I can understand why many people would be against that. People have been breeding dogs and animals for thousands of years. Maybe a lot of people think people should let the dog have sex with whatever dog that they want. As long as you know what your doing, then go for it.

as a person who shelters and fosters abused animals and homeless animals ,i see enough careless breeding to last me a lifetime . Just take a walk through a shelter and this should speak volumes to you as to why ppl are against irresponsible breeding . and my dear that is what you are doing if you breed a mix breed . it is called irresponsible breeding . I have sheltered and fostered a great number of dogs over the years and I see this everyday . so please re think your decision to do this . good luck .

I truly feel this is your business. I think you should be able to breed your dog and that you should be able to ask a question and get advice regarding the question you asked. I really don't understand myself why - especially under your circumstances - being responsible and a family event - why everyone wants to shove their opinion down your throat. You aren'y knocking dog breeders, or show breeders out of their market. Why do we all have to be responsible for homeless animals, when no one wants to be responsible for homeless people? How come no one cares about Vietnam vets standing in Denver waiting for food kitchens to open. (I've been there and it is sad) I know - homeless people are poor and dirty and make bad choices. Animals are just victims for us to pity and are more important than people??? No one cares about poverty and basic human rights anymore I guess. Maybe that is why our country is such as mess. (I am not saying to irresponsibly let dogs run the street while in heat by any means) I am just saying our priorities are messed up when no one can answer a simple question from someone who is trying to be concerned about the health of their dogs to the point that the dogs have more rights than the owner!

I think if you have homes for them and they will be looked after then who cares what anybody else thinks if they both have a good temperament that's fine

most people are against because they watch the news to often about 1/2 breed dogs attacking people or maybe they just like to whinge. Maybe if people didn't dump dogs there would be no need for shelter's no one person is at fault..

People have there own opinion's. But I figure it because of all the home less dogs in shelters that need good homes. I think A personal bred er is fine if you are wanting a pure breed. But if your just wanting a every day family pet check out the shelters.
I think letting your dogs have one litter teaches them many things. and they seem to get along better with kids as they get older...been there. My baby had one litter then i had her spaded..it done wonders...good luck..
