R&S is pretty brutal, many here are extremely, and I mean EXTREMELY abusive.

If we know we're gonna get it, why do we come back time and time again? Look how many of us have "Top Contributor" linked to our names.

Are we gluttons for punishment, or ???? Personally, I come back for several reasons. Sheer curiosity is the reason I log on first thing in the morning. Ha, more like MORBID curiosity, lol! I also like to share my knowledge with those who may not know of the Baha'i Faith. It gives a different perspective on things, stuff that is different from the norm. Ah yes, I *defend Islam* and try to dispel the myths. This is one duty of Baha'is in the West, to dispel these myths about Islam, and I shoulder this responsibility very seriously.

Sometimes, I come for the trolls, lol!

So, what keeps *you* coming back?

traveler.wanderer?: I completely and gently respect your point of view. I believe I can guess what country you are from? I won't do that here, if I do it will be in private. The responsibility I talked about is for Bahah'is in the West, where non-Muslims can be really brutally abusive toward them, and completely non-trusting. This problem isn't in the MidEast, it's here, so that's why we have this responsibility here, and not the Baha'is in the East.

Thank you for your comment. Thank everyone, great answers!

Muhammad Ishfaq: Baha'is are real human beings, dear. Certainly we're not robotic, right? We believe in the same One God that the Jews, Christians, and Muslims believe in. Yes, we are believers. Btw, we have no trinity, we believe in ONE God, not three. Yes, we are believers too.

Well, there's something I didn't know, maybe that's what keeps me coming back. What you said about the Baha'i Faith. I've always wondered where it was "centered", or from "whence" it came. (where else would I have a chance to use a word like "whence") So, I've learned something new. That, and I'm waiting for my toaster oven to "ding" (telling me that my post midnight snack is done).
You are absolutely right. This section can be BRUUU TAAL. I thoroughly get a kick out of some of the "answers" and theories on life, that many of the more "intense" practicing believers have, as well as their thoughts on everything else for that matter. What is so terribly sad is that most of the theories and thoughts that are expressed here are not those of an individual, rather, they are merely words and quotes taken from a book written so very long ago that it inspires these people to pierce the very "soul" of "individual" thought. Those who question are forever damned. Those who do not "believe" are destined to wander aimlessly through life with no purpose or value to their fellow man. (My personal interpretation of the many views that are expressed here)
But, we still keep coming back. Ain't it cool? Individual thought; and.... a venue from which to express "it". Whatever "it" may be at whatever particular time.
I've always been able to respect and often admire those who are not afraid to speak up and be proud about what it is that is important to them. I just can't seem to respect, admire and forgive those who do not extend me the same courtesy. That's probably the main reason I keep coming back. If for no other reason than to say... "you know what? My spirituality is not for someone else to question or condemn". As long as I have the capacity for freewill and free "thought", I will use them to their absolute fullest. The majority of the views and opinions that are expressed here do exactly that, condemn others for their beliefs and anything that deviates from "the Book". The people who are "ABUSIVE", condescending, ignorant and utterly self-righteous" need to hear a few words from time to time that (even though, they go in one ear and out the other) will cause just a fleeting whisp of doubt in their own beliefs, that perhaps one day, they will be able to practice what they preach.

Because we're addicted. With all my free time, I've really gotten hung up on this site.

I respect and admire Bahais very much, and I am considering becoming a Bahai myself. I see Bahaism as a great improvement upon Islam. Unfortunately, as a religion that continues to wreak havoc on both Bahais and ex-Muslims, including the two thousand Bahais in my country of Egypt who either have to lie about their religion or make do without drivers' licenses, education, healthcare, jobs, and passports, I don't see Islam the way you see it. Nor should I.

Thank you for your question.

Edit - Your patience and open-mindedness are inspiring. There is a lot to be learned from your example. Like most Bahais I know, you give your religion a good name.

Because even though there are the trolls and those who use their religions to spread hate there are still questions and answers that can help me to think from different perspectives and understand on different levels. And because I hope to do the same for someone else.

But, yeah, there is a morbid fun in seeing what the jerks have to say. However, I think the majority of them speak out of a desire to be a jerk rather than any actual belief or consideration of religion or spirituality.

Usually I come here out of boredom, other times to see if anyone has answered my questions. Mostly, I have nothing better to do because I am in Morocco and there are NO JOBS here! If that ever changes, you will see much less of me, I promise.

I'm addicted to the crack that is Y!A and I am not afraid to admit it. It's like watching a car wreck in slow motion. Horrible, but very hard to look away.

Where else can you find a community of people who know a lot about religion, like to discuss it, and aren't swallowed up by it.

Christians have church. Atheists have R&S.
