Latins would write DEVS
The current 'U' was not existing and they used the "V"instead.
These were the ancient Latin letters :
A B C D E F H I K L M N O P Q R S T V X

The 'G' 'Y' and 'Z' would have been used in a second time.

The Roman alphabet only had capitals, and did not distinguish between what would be "u" and "v"(presumably spoken like "w") in our alphabet.
Si it would be "DEVS" in the writing of the Romans.
