It depends on the environment on what would be appropriate. If you are still in school, start chatting up about the classes you are in. If you're outta school and out in the work place start talking about what's going on at work, such as, "Hey how about that meeting? What did you think of it?" And another thing to do would be by starting off with a subtle compliment, nothing too dramatic because than it seems like a pick up line, and the girl will probably assume you use lines like that all the time. Try something like,"You have the most unique colored eyes." or "You have such a sweet voice."
Things to not say no matter what, anything about an ex, any problems going on in your life(it will make you seem like a depressed whiner, save that for after you bag the girl ;o) )
Most girls love guys with a sense of humor! But it depends on the person as to what they would think is funny, so that one I can't get too specific, because what one girl might think is funny another may not. I hope that helps you.

find out wat she likes, wat she is intrested in, wat she loves, wat she is looking for............... then talk to her abt all this......... dont look scared or vulnerable in front of her, at the same time dont look as if u can beat up everyone around u. confidence good...... overconfidence bad
