Just to elaborate a bit

Shes in University at the moment, doing the same course as me. We literally have too much in common! The reason why i like her is because shes mature unlike the surfie girls at my school and for my age, my vocab and personality is much higher than its supposed to be.
O yea and its Sante Fe, CA

When one is not yet of legal age there are no exceptions .
0. nada. technically she is adult , you are not. She can go to jail, probably won't but could.

99% chance that there is no long haul for the two of you, at that age the maturity difference and development is too large, with the female being the older. you'd have to be the one who is 3 years older for better odds. if she was 34 and you 31, there would not be any difference, but right now for a 21 year old female a 17 yr old could be only one or two things, thats simply a friend or sex, but you are not legal for her.and not quite finished growing from boy to man. besides , love is great but not practical. What could you bring to the relationship? how would you find the time when you haven't gone through college yet or created your livlihood, or have a place of your own, have you defined who you are yet, what is love anyway? are you prepared for the sacrifices that go with love.you will love again and again and you will lust 1000 times.your body is adjusting, love is no joke, nut romance and dating and growing up is fun, painful sometimes but fun.

First of all, you should be the one deciding what is acceptable to you. Nothing else matter.
But since you want our opinion, I'll tell you :)
In my point of view. You are too young for her right now.
I just say this, because you will be a completely different person in one year, and the next, and so on. You have many things to learn (she does too, but not as much)
However, once you are 21 and over, it is fine :)
Just because you have a much better idea of who you are and the growing and maturing goes a bit slower after here, so the difference is not as much.
Again, this is just my opinion, and you should do whathever feels right for you right now.

I think the age difference is too much at this point of your life. Men mature slower then girls normally, but, really not enough information to go on here. Where did you meet, how does she feel about you, is she in college, are you planning on going to college? A couple of years after 24-25, no big deal, but right now, could be very tough.

Wait a year, so she doesn't get in trouble.
As far as the age thing goes, it depends on the people involved. I know some 18 year olds that act more mature than some 40 year olds.

Sounds like my very first girl friend. It was great and no one thought there was anything wrong. Guys my age were envious, girls my age were angry and her friends took a liking to me.

In the long run, as you get older, the difference in age will hardly be noticeable. You may mature a little faster being with someone older than you.

3 years is nothing when you are a bit older. Now, perhaps if you are a mature 17 year old then it is acceptable. As long as you have things in common.

There is nothing wrong with that, just quit using the months thing. You only use months on how old babies are. But if you two are both committed to each other and want to make it work then so be it. The question is, if you are ok with it and she is ok with it, then what does it matter? Good luck.

If your in love with her what does it matter what other people think of your relationship. I went out with a guy 5 years younger than me and he was one of the best bf's i've ever had. Worry about how you's feel towards each other and don't let peoples negative views destroy that.
