Just get married, I have a friend who is american and he married a canadian and lives there as a eye doctor, I also have a friend who lives here and is canadian, be happy

It depends on where you are going to live. Is he moving here? I'm not totally sure about the legal issues... but my friend just had this problem as well. Her Canadian fiance was going to move to the US to marry her. They found out that he had to get a US Visa before they got married. If they had gotten married without him getting a Visa first, there would have been a 6 month waiting period before he could have entered the US again. (Not sure why.) So, he ended up putting in two applications for a Visa, one through work. It took about 6 months and then one of them came through. He now lives in the US. They got married just recently, after he moved here. The whole thing was rather stressful. He even had to hire an immigration lawyer to figure things out.
