i am getting married and my stepdad doesn't really like my fiance for no reason at all. we got into a big argument bc i told him it would really hurt my feelings if he wasn't there. then he said he wasn't coming and actually called me a slut. i could not believe my ears. my own dad called me a slut and i have no idea why he would do that or say such hurtful things. i mean we were yelling at each other but a slut. where the hell did that come from. and he swears he won't go which could have the potential of really hurting my feelings and upseting me on my day. plus my fiance is worried sick on ways to make him happy. basically he is getting under both our skins and i won't to stop caring or fix it somehow. any fathers out there want to help me understand...or anyone else....thxs

am sorry he hurt u. give him space. then let him know that his words hurt u and let him exxplain where all that anger came from. if he is persistent about his stand. i say let it go and focus on ur new life and happiness with your wedding and marriage.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. Being he is a step parent may have had little to do about it. He may not have said it if you were his blood relative, or he may have been more nasty. I think he was frustrated and hurt, and that was his nuclear option. He can see the writing on the wall that he will not be the main man in your life anymore. the one you go to when the chips are really down, and things are really a mess. Your new husband is dethroning him in that area. He may not like your new beau because of that. He may feel diminished as an important force in your life. I would be civil, update him on the wedding. Try to include him, but let him know, with or without him, the show WILL go on. As the day nears and you are not begging him, he may see that it is the way it is going to be and he either buy a ticket and get on the band wagon or just miss out all the way.

If he can't understand the fact that he doesn't control you, then ignore his actions. He may call you a *****, a whore, anything he wants. Just don't let it get to you, and certainly don't return the favor.
