The speakers work for a few minutes then go out...I switch it to fm radio and then back to the cd player and the right speakrs work again for a few minutes only to go out again. Any ideas as to why its doing this? Even better, how do i fix this!?

Could be that the the CD player portion is broken. the laser reader may get out of alignment, or something like that.

Or it could be a heat issue - when the CD player runs the heat generated is causing a connection somewhere to open up.

Could also be due to vibration from the cd player, same as with heat, there's possibly a place where circuit is being broken.

No matter which it is though, car stereos, unless under warranty, are not worth fixing. Get a new one.

Please, buddy, he's asking about how to stop stuff like this from happening and you suggest Sony?! Comeon, dude!

But seriously, you might need to get another HU. Try Alpine or Eclipse for inexpensive SQ.
