he hates his hands to be dirty and he yells EWEWEW until someone cleans them even if it is when he is eating and there is barely anything on his hands. Also there was a little spot of mud on the floor and he stood there pointing saying EWEW until i cleaned that. I have never seen a baby that feaks out over being dirty. when he looked out the window and saw snow he said EWEW.

This is a very normal developmental stage that comes at or just before its time to potty train. Your son needs to learn to be clean to protect his health, this is part of that development. He is normal, and say EW, its fun. My youner son started that at around then and is still doing it, I give him a wipe and he cleans for at least 30 minutes with it, he'll clean anything, if you do that, put your cell phone up.

as a parent of a child that was diagnosed at around that age as possible being predisposed to OCD (they wont make a positive diagnosis that young) i can tell you one behavior doesnt make it OCD, my daughter is almost 7 and has gotten progressively worse over the years and they have finally made the diagnosis recently that yes she has OCD....my other 2 children both had one or two things they were obsessive about i think all kids do....but with her it was everything. her toys were arranged neatly in her toybox and always stayed taht way by the time she was 2..... at around your sons age she started with a mad sock fetish, she still to this day wears about 6 pairs of socks a day. she never even as a baby was a messy eater and she wouldnt say ewww she would actually break down and totally freak if she got food on her from like a year old on.

My 2 year old has been doing the same thing for months now. He also can't stand anything to be out of place and has to have all of his toys picked up after he is done (great for me :) . He can't stand anything on his hands, face, clothes, nothing. I think it is normal, and he just doesn't like the feeling of stuff on his hands and knows that mud isn't supposed to be on the floor.

Thats my son too. Even if gets a tiny bit of food while eating, it has to be cleaned up before he will eat another mouthful. If theres something spilt on the floor, he will stand next to it saying ewww, till its wiped. It really cute. Especially since most of the spilling is done by him. No your son most definitely is not OC. He is just being a toddler. Enjoy.

normal behavior for a toddler
my little one did this too and is 3 now and it's not as bad but she still loves clean hands but doesn't scream for me to clean then like she use to
my neighbors son was the same way also
don't worry they grow out of it and develop a new annoying/worrisome behavior that they also grow out of that's just kids

I think all kids, especially at this age, get fixated on things. It could be food (will only eat a certain thing made a certain way), clothes (will only wear a certain thing) or behaviours. I doubt your child has OCD as symptoms don't usually appear until puberty anyway.

Probably not.

OCD in children is usually diagnosed between the ages of 7 and 12. Since these are the years when kids naturally feel concerned about fitting in with their friends, the discomfort and stress brought on by OCD can make them feel scared, out of control, and alone.

If your child shows signs of OCD, talk to your child's doctor about ways to help your child to cope with these persistent thoughts and behaviors and not let them interfere with daily life. Family support and cooperation are crucial to successful treatment of OCD.

Sounds like my son. lol he's 17 months old and he arranges his books by color. (he's very smart and knows his colors) when i come in to read him a bed time story if i put the book in the wrong place he screams "mom why?!?!" but it doesn't seem like that much of a problem. he can help you clean by showing you the spots you missed lol.

all kids around 18-36 months are OCD about SOMETHING.. it doesnt mean they have a lifelong disorder . it just means they want things "just so". it might be something like they cant be dirty. or having a certain blanket all the time, or having their food cut a certain way, or their drink in a certain colored cup, or otherwise they will freak out and have a tantrum. its normal, they all do it to some degree, and they all grow out of it!
