Hindu gods and goddesses are the many faces of the one God. Roman gods and goddesses (most of which were borrowed from the Greeks....but others from other cultures also made their way into Rome) tended to be individual and not connected to a singular God or Force, etc.
Also there is no clear Hindu pantheon like there is a Roman pantheon. The Hindu deities all intertwine. There is a saying in HInduism that goes "One God with a thousand faces all of which are looking at the same time through the same eyes." There are countless number of Hindu gods and goddesses that all do the exact same thing or are "god/goddess of" the exact same thing. It's not a contradiction since as far as Hindus are concerned there is, ultimately, only one God but that the many faces that we humans conjure up are what is used. Ultimately God is beyond all the names and forms. All of this differs greatly with the Roman pantheon where gods and goddesses had clearly distinct roles....often even the gods and goddesses from other cultures that became popular in Rome also had a distinct role in the pantheon (sometimes different from the one that god or goddess played in the culture it came from). The gods and goddesses didn't intertwined and Romans never viewed them as just the many faces of one God, Divine Force, Cosmic Consciousness, or Universal Soul (to use some of the words used in Hinduism for the One). So those are the differences.
The similarities are that the statues and pictures and mythological stories all aim to anthropromorphize the Divine. Romans may not have viewed it as One and Hindus do, but bother attempted to bring understanding as best they knew how to and the myths are all great stories to reveal not only moral teachings and lessons, but also reveal the nature of inner selves.
That's my basic comparison. Peace be with you.
