My 3 yr old son may be constipated and I was wondering if anyone knew of any home remedies that we could try. Something that will work quickly and painlessly would be the best. Also, he is experiencing some nausea too. Thanks in advance.

The best thing to do is to take him to the doctor for a check up. My son's doctor would recommend Karo dark corn syrup the one you pour over pancakes. Try giving him, 2 tbs. in an 8oz. glass of water. Another natural remedy for constipation is add a little sugar or some honey to a glass of milk drink twice a day. Bran cereal is good also and plenty of water and lots of fruits, Guava is good. Constipation is toxic. Hope he feels better.

My little girl suffers from constant constipation besides her daily meds we have a few things that work very well...
1. Guava Juice...I do not know why but it has been wonderful, we mix it equally with Orange Juice.
2. Karo syrup, a few tablespoon straight up if she will take it or mix in juice, milk, or water.
3.Or one of my 2 year olds favorites ..We call it Dr. pepper with a twist...equal parts prune juice and sprite.
4. Extra fiber, such as wheat germ on top of yogurt and mixed into hot cereals helps on a regular basis
5. Do not forget to offer plenty of liquids mainly water...we keep water bottles all over the place, in the car at home in the pram...when we are having a day of constipation we offer undiluted high fructose juices...

It is the sugar that pulls the water from the body into the bowl. This is what makes the BM soft or hard. So do not deprive these things during this time.

Good Luck

PRUNES! Either prune juice (you can water it down or even mix it with apple juice to lessen the strong taste) OR buy the babyfood prunes and see if he likes them straight as they are or mix them with something he likes that isn't constipating. Cut back on cheese and milk products too while you are trying to get him going (they are constipating themselves in excess). Prunes always gets my kids going...! And it's all natural, no laxatives or medicines, etc... OH! Also melons always worked well for my daughter (she is 3 now)... honeydew, canteloupe, etc.... Good Luck!

Hi there I use PARACHOC from the pharmacy. It looks and tastes like chocolate so the kids don't mind eating it and it starts working rather quickly. It is really gentle on the stomach as well. Good luck!
