For MOST guys, falling in love means that a monogamous commitment will follow. Guys tend to be analytical creatures and have the need to go over there pros and cons list before diving in. He has to be sure that the relationship is worth the sacrifice that he will have to make in order to commit. Women do the same thing, but because they are more "feeling" by nature, the process doesn't take as long and the decision is made faster.
Don't worry. It's not a personal problem towards the woman, just a natural decision-making process that requires a little more processing time than others. If you try to rush them through, they may find later that they made the wrong decision and bail. Please be patient.

Before there was no risk when you talked to a girl. Once you have feelings then you realize you have to put it on the line and risk being turned down. That is exquisite painful. But it is worth the risk, hang on and enjoy the ride. Good Luck

Because, he does not want to screw things up. If he stays out of the way, he will not do or say anything, that could have a negative effect on the opinion of his love.

Because we're scared.
Guys are trained to drown their emotions. It's basically our culture that does that. Being in love, and dealing with these incredibly strong feelings, is frightening. So we withdraw, because that's how we deal with problems.
Hope that helps you ;)

Because boys are immature and never change, but that's what makes us love them. They just aren't mature enough. Most likely they are actually scared.
