And, I do mean *all* that is good. I've heard people thank this god for their pets' health, etc.

Why does this deity receive so much credit, but zero blame? After all, he's omnipotent, right?

Why ask it again, IKB? Because I have yet to see a satisfactory answer. (Telling, no?) Thats why.

It does seem odd to the limits of our minds. I honestly don't know why it is the way it is. It would not be truthful to say God does not allow evil to flourish untamed at times. To be the author is another matter.

Well, technically speaking, since "GOD" created everything then he is responsible for everything that happens.
if you were arguing the point the above statement would stands it's own ground.always.
of course there will be people who are devoted Christians or catholics or whatever, that will say is the devil not god. you can always go back to what I said above. Who created the devil, or whatever other thing they bring up.

I just read some of the other comments, saying that bad things happens to bad people because they made bad choices. What about when your car breaks down, and you end up in an accidents, deer crosses your path, a deadly snake bites and you die, how did this people made bad choices, of course some morons will say god works in mysterious ways, and when a good thing happens is gods blessing, In which case if this is the rule and not a fact.
what's the point of arguing the point, mind you people the bible was written by men, not by god.. say whatever you want to say, WRITTEN BY MEN, and not just that but, also has been translated to different languages into modern words, in which case the original language is not even the same, there for the likely hood of being full of crap is very, very, very high.

God has created all things. Praising him for what we have, what we are etc. is honoring him for his creations. It does not mean that we think that God has a hand in every little thing that happens in life. We are simply grateful to him for allowing us to have those blessings. (He does have a choice you know)

As to why we don't blame him for bad things...well, because he does not cause bad things to happen except as a form of judgement...and he has said that he would never destroy mankind again like he did in the flood. His next destruction on earth will come with the judgements during the tribulation. Then he will allow horrible things to happen to those that do not believe. Today, most bad things happen because of choices made by human beings. Even if you are a wonderful and righteous person, a person led by Satan could easily go out and get drunk and run his car into you or your family. Man has the power to harm and to kill and it is our Free Will that allows us to do both unfortunately.

Omnipotent does not mean "causes all things". It means all powerful. In other words, God can do all things if he chooses.

Have you not read where God assumes both, responsibility and accountability for all the evil in this world we live in ? (see: The Book of Isaiah, Chapter 45, verse 7 - Old Testament) . When God creates "all things", He also, has the power to right the wrongs and bring the whole outcome to a satisfactory result - doesn't He?

Who gives credits to God? When God is all in One where is any body else to evaluate Him. There is nothing outside God or God's realm. All the so called 'good' and 'bad' are the judgment of our own mind. In fact God never judges because there is nothing to judge for all IS HE only. The mind is a mischievous instrument which delude the beings into acceptance of a 'rope' as 'snake'. But to understand this philosophy mind has to be jettisoned. nagarajan..

Believing in a god makes a person have a positive outlook on life. Having someone to thank for all the blessings and good fortune one has received is good. Why would you want to blame god for things that go wrong? Get over it! It was probably man's fault anyway. You see... even if there is a lot of evil in this world, there is a reason. It makes you a stronger person , a stronger believer despite such bad things that are in this world. Have faith. Quit finding someone to blame...

People are quietly cursing GOD for their own fault in the choices they freely made, under no duress or use of force by GOD against them; and then these same people thank GOD when in among their family and friends - for fear of being found wanting in their faith.
Of the times after I goof up something I blame GOD for hurting me, only to recover and remember I made my own bed and have to sleep in it. I am accountable for my actions to me. GOD tests me, and helps me, but I and I alone choose to accept the help offered, and pass or fail the tests on my own.
When given a choice it can go either good or bad because of the person choosing - not because of GOD. GOD does not influence or entice us to choose good or bad - we freely choose with the information we have.
Does GOD force a person to stab another when robbing them? I say no. The person has a choice to stab or not - and freely chooses, uses their will to decide their actions. GOD would not stab his/her creation to make a point.
Bad as in hurricanes, earthquakes, GOD gets many "why" prayers; and anger for the damage/hurt/pain people are feeling.
Deaths of family, cause this also. "He was so young" is a polite way of screaming angrily "Why!" to GOD. Especially children - parents always think they should go first/before their children - world over. This always causes pain between us and GOD. Some loose faith entirely because of this.
GOD is omnipotent to provide the fork in the road of life, not the decision of going left or right on it.

Have you heard the "God works in mysterious ways." Usually, that doesn't alway refer to "all that is good." Also, people don't neccesarily associate bad with God. But I believe that people do this because, bad can be blamed on man. ie. It began with Adam and his sins, therefore, we are all sinners. And, God is good because he gave mankind a second chance. Etc, etc. I think good and bad is determined by humans however. but i guess it is all a matter of perspective.

When God created this world he thought it would be perfect.....but then he created Adam and Eve.....Satan tempted Eve to eat the fruit off the tree that God told them you must not eat from.....Eve eat the fruit and told Adam to eat it Adam eat it..... God had to punish them for disobeying him........thats when humans started getting out of control......it wasn't God's fault that they eat the fruit. So therefore he can't be blamed for the bad.....it's human's own fault....don't even try to blame Satan either because all he does is tempt you.....

He is omnipotent but He also exercises self restraint. He created all that is perfect and good (all good gifts come from the Father of light - Scripture). But man chose sin (free will again) and the wages of sin is death. So now we have opened the door for satan to do his work - steal, kill and destroy. Why blame God for something we invited in by our choice? God did not choose the destruction of sin for us, we did that. And satan is very good at "expressing" his evil nature, with all its resultant chaos.
