Because Christians follow the bible, a book written by man. It's like playing telephone in preschool, where one person whispers in another's ear and it goes on down the line. At the end, there's no telling how it started out. Hell, with the bible, there's no telling if there was ever anything whispered in the first place.

As it says in the bible, perfect love is impossible to achieve. Perfect love is what God has for all of us. We are supposed to strive towards perfect love but we will never achieve it. Only God has achieved it. We are supposed to love everyone and everything and not fear or feel jealousy towards anything. Many Christians don't believe that homosexuality is the correct thing to do. God created man to be with a woman. Even, if you were Atheist, this would make sense. Men are biologically made to reproduce with women. That is why men can't have babies with men and women can't have babies with women. Homosexuals accuse Christians of being homophobic because of this. Because Christians simply think that homosexuals are wrong about who they are attracted to makes gay people think that they are homophobic. This is like saying that Republicans are Demophobic and that Democrats are Republiphobic. Christians do not fear the gays they just don't agree with them. Biology doesn't agree with them either.

Many people have not experienced the birth of the holy spirit within them or the power of the new life exhibited in Christ's resurrection. . Yet the word of God is true and many have experienced the life giving and life changing power of the love that casts out all fear. This love is a sweet conscious experience that you are loved by God, born from above accepted in the beloved, grafted in and though things that seem bad may happen, you are comforted beyond all things, knowing through the inner witness of the spirit which assures you that you belong to God and that you belong to the Maker of heaven and earth. It is spiritual not carnal

God does cast out all fear. As Christians and human, we will have fears but through God those fears will be conquered.
Things we are afraid of, such as water, the dark, being alone, bridges, companionship, and every thing else that we fear are usually instilled in us as a youth. It takes a lot to make these fears go away. GOD can and does get rid of these fears as long as we give these things to Him and leave them there.
I know it is hard for non-believers to understand, but through GOD all things are possible.

God does not give us a spirit of fear and we truly accept and believe this, but we are still human and do not live in perfect love. The difference is that we are striving to and are still growing in our faith daily. Our fears are greatly lessened with some things and diminished with others. I do not fear things that do not pertain to my born again life such as hell and separation ever from my Lord. I also do not fear death as I know death is a breath away from seeing and being eternally with my Lord. Thru the Lord's help we can overcome many of our fears. Being human, we still live in this world with evil all around us and will probably have some fears such as water, etc.

But how many of us have achieved perfect love in ourselves? No one I know. It's a goal, but a life-long one. I can say that God's love has cast out most of my fears, and one day they will all be gone. But because I still have a willful spirit that strives with Him sometimes, I have not yet achieved perfect love.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge."
Fear is not all bad. Once saved, though, you are free from the fear of Hell, and Satan, and the evil forces of the spiritual realms. Are they still scary things? Probably. But the reasons for fearing them are no longer valid. Your suffering for Christ's sake will only bring Him glory, and your death will only bring you to heaven.

That shows you their love is not perfect. They are just believing because the believe the alternative is fire and brimstone. Those who take up pascals wager all show the same signs. The only place where you can see the faith in their lives is when it comes out of their mouths.

Because we aren't yet perfected in love. In other words, we may not be completely mature in our faith yet. We have access to perfect love, but we aren't yet able to consistently touch it and let it work in our lives.
