It is common to happen. Just that alot people do not know about it.
I was pressurised once. So did some of my friends. We were there to attend wedding ceremony, and there he came promoting Christianity, giving infos, pressuring us, and we didnt get to eat the food for the wedding! Stupid pastor...
That is why alot of people has been converted to Christianity. Pressuring people works the best for them.
Thank you!

Why was he even in the church? He must have been looking for something there. How exactly did the pastor force him? Handcuffs? Bamboo slivers under the fingernails? If he genuinely agreed to join a church just to avoid offending anyone, then he was being overly polite and needs to, if you'll pardon the expression, grow a pair. No, if he truly does not want to join, he should not go. But are you sure you understand his true feelings on this? Is it really you that he's worried about offending? Because I'm still marvelling at why he would go to the church and agree to be baptized if he really doesn't want to.

Honestly, He needs to be honest with himself and should have taken that stand at the point people were looking at him and expecting him to say yes.
No pastor can force anyone to join their religion, truly at least. He is obviously sending mixed signals to the pastor if he really feels the way he does (pressured) He should tell the pastor he isn't ready yet and may never be. It won't hurt him to go to some ceremony, but he needs to be honest to those people and quit sending mixed signals. They surely would understand that, I would hope. But on the other hand, it does sorta sound like you are pressuring him to not go as well, especially since you are asking this question and we really don't know how he is feeling for sure, except from your point of view.

I am a Christian. However, it is wrong for anybody to pressure another person to do something he doesn't want to do. Choosing Jesus should be a whole-hearted commitment. That pastor is not a true follower of Christ. Jesus did not pressure anyone to follow Him. They chose to do so on their own free will. Tell your friend to avoid those people. They are not true Christians. When the time comes when he wants Jesus in his life, then by all means get baptized.

Your friend needs to get a backbone asap. No one can force anyone to do anything they don't want to. If he doesn't want to join, then he should just not attend and make plans to do something else next week at that time. It's not that difficult.

As for your friend, which is it; A pastor forced him or all the people looking at him compelled him? If he doesn't want to join, then he should not go back there. Jesus would not want him in church pretending to act like a christian.
Encourage your friend to read the bible and make up his own mind and not to let anyone, believer or unbeliever make up his mind for him.

Both you AND him need to go have a private talk with the pastor and explain why it was wrong of him to do something like that. Singling people out like that is worse than the people who go to the street corners with blow horns telling everyone they're sinners. At least THOSE people are being honest, and not trapping people. And no, I don't advocate yelling "SINNERS REPENT" into blow horns.
So yeah, that pastor needs to let God do the tugging.

No..he shouldn't go. He should call the pastor and tell him he felt "pressured" and then quickly hang up before he gets pressured again. I'd also put the word out about this church anywhere I could.

Tell him to go up to the pastor and kick him in the groin. Then leave the church forever.

Definitely not. No one should ever fake it. Who cares what people think, God knows the heart. I'm sure those people meant well, but they are wrong to pressure someone into getting baptized. It is better to be cold than to be lukewarm, although the best is to be on fire for Jesus.
