how to train a dog

Have lots of treats and plenty of patience.

Decide on what you want to teach him first. Probably best to start with SIT. With treat in hand guide the treat slowly over the dogs nose and towards the top of his head he will follow it and will sit (may take a few attempts). the second his bum touches the floor say SIT and give the treat. The moment you say sit is crucial he will start to associate the word with the sitting position.

Once you have mastered the Sit, try the DOWN command. Get him in the sitting position, with the treat in hand move it towards the floor his nose will follow and he will find it easier to get the treat by lying down. Again, the second he lies down say DOWN and treat. Another method of teaching this is If the dog is quite small try siting on he floor yourself with knees bent in-front of you, with treat in hand bring your arm under your legs and guide the dog through (this forces him into the down position) once he is in the position say the command DOWN and offer the treat.

I always give a hand signal with a command as I find it works well with my dogs. Choose what ever you like but always use the same signal for each command.

Practice makes perfect, but most dogs are quick to learn especially where there is food involved. If he isn't much interested in the treats you offer, try a bit of cheese or hot dog sausages. Dogs love these foods.

firstly, you need to assure your dog that you are his friend and you could do this by regularly patting him,not being rude to him, cleaning him regularly, etc.
next, you have to give him his best food(probably stuff from the dog shop)
next, take him on walk and allow him to go whereever he likes.this would enable him to feel free under you and not like a prisoner.
start asking him for "shake hand" and he would slowly try to stretch him palm.if he doesnot dont scold him but rather ask him after sometime.
see that he enjoys your company and then you could easily train him as you want and he would listen to you with obedience.
