What is the Best Type of Fruit For Diabetics?
Whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, you can eat any type of fruit, regardless of it's fruit sugar content. Everyone is encouraged to eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day. Spreading the fruit you eat through the day helps to avoid a sudden rise in blood sugar levels.
Isn't Fruit Bad For Diabetics?
No. Although some fruits have a lower glycemic index (GI) value, which shows how they affect blood glucose levels, the important thing is to increase the amount of fruit you eat, including a wide variety of different fruits. The sugar in fruit (fructose) has a very low GI value (19), and fruit sugar typically comes "wrapped" in natural fiber, thus reducing its effect on blood glucose levels.
Can I Eat Bananas and Grapes?
Yes! All fruit is good for you. Fruit is high in fibre, low in fat, low in calories and packed with vitamins and minerals. Research has shown that eating fruits helps to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, some cancers and some digestive problems. Aim to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables per day: for example, three portions of fruit and two portions of vegetables or vice versa. And fruit is still the perfect snack.
Optimum Health and Weight For Diabetics
Diabetes is a serious medical condition which is easily affected by eating habits, exercise routines, digestive upsets and day-to-day health. Maintaining a healthy weight is also very important. For optimum health and weight, please ensure you talk regularly with your physician, dietitian or diabetes teacher. Remember: every diabetic has individual dietary requirements, which is why it is important to get specific advice on the amount of food for your individual needs.

The wax coating is natural and non-petroleum based, and is approved to be used for all kinds of foods. Washing in WARM water will remove most of the coating and peeling the fruit will completely remove any coating used. Personally for me, I just use the blade of the knife and scratch the apple's surface, you'll notice the white wax coming off. Do it all around the apple and just wash and you're done.
