an area of the brain, the neocortex, is responsible for integrating sensory information. for example the if the optic nerve (which travels from the eyeball to the neocortex) is cut a person would not be able to see... although the brain itself can feel no pain as it has no pain receptors it is utlimately what determines if there is pain- physically and psychologically. When you say the mind you may be referring to an aspect of brain that traditionally is regarded as esoteric. It is interesting to note that illness (mental and physical although both are the same in the end) are defined and experienced differently across cultures. This would suggest that there is plasticity that is influenced by culture regarding how a schema of an ailment is constructed in the brain. Currently many people are attempting to research where these boundaries in the brain are... You should read "The man who mistook his wife for a hat" by neurologist Oliver Sacks. There is one story in that book about a woman who had an illness involving her somatosensory receptors that caused her to feel as though she no longer had a body and was existing as a ghost. its an interesting read : )

Well, most if not all the physical diseases have their origin in the mind, the emotional part of the mind to be specific. Psychosomatic is the word and is used by modern doctors, not the 'holistic' alternative camp followers!
Meditation, prayer and yes, Bach Flowers, Tissue Remedies and Homeopathy are good chocies for helping cope with the emotional and thus the physical problems. EFT, Reiki, Pranic Healing and many more non-medical systems are also useful.

Well conservatism (particularly the Graham Leach Bliley bill of 1999) caused the deregulation of banks and allowed companies like AIG to become so powerful that we can't let them fail, creating the need for these bail outs. But not all liberals are genius's either. And also we can't blame "conservatism" for the last 8 years, because Bush was not a true conservative, and practically shredded the constitution. The true ideals of conservatism or liberalism are not what is often practiced. We need liberals and conservatives to have balance in America.

maybe not the root cause in everycase but it has an impact on your general well being. People percieve things including physical signals in different ways and vice versa

You are correct. It just SEEMS like cancer is devouring your liver, when actually you just have a bad case of low self-esteem. Just by some good self help books, light some aroma therapy candles, buy some "power stones" and the "cancer" will go away ...
... yeah .... right ... it is ALL in the mind ...

Not really, as there are some genetic disorders in which the mind hardly plays any role.
