I think you need a larger female as you are the owner of the male. I would not try to breed this pair. There is a fairly good chance that the female would need a c-section at best or that she could die as a result of this union. I don't understand the arrangement. Is this a stud agreement? Is the owner of the female not aware of the threat to her dog's life through this union? Toy breeds are very fragile when it comes to breeding. Your male needs an 8 or nine pound female (7 minimum) If he is that big, it is possible that some of his relatives had the genetics for 8 to nine pound puppies which is what genetics he would give the puppies to be carried by this 2.5 pound girl. In addition, it is important to know her genetic background. If she was the "runt" her genetics would be for larger puppies. Some of the puppies would be extremely large if this is the case. I would not proceed with this plan, but if you must - take both dogs to the vet and ask his opinion prior to any mating.

seeing he is not 2 yet, im sure he hasnt been tested for hereditary health problems, why are you wanting to breed irresponsibly? Leave breeding to the reputable breeders because so many things can go wrong and badly bred yorkies especially are everywhere. My aunt is head of a rescue for yorkies, she sees the effects of crappy breeding everyday and its not pretty. And yes, the male should not be bigger than the female, it could cause birthing problems with the female, you would know this if you were a reputable breeder. If you REALLY want to breed, do it the right way. Find a reputable breeder (look into dog shows and talk to people) and ask questions and go from there. They will tell you the right way to breed, bettering the breed not destroying it.

The female's life would be at risk if the maqle was the same size or even smaller. She is to small to breed. If you are determined to stud out your male, make sure the female is a suitable size for breeding.

Okay in the first place that male is way too big to breed with that female she will have problems if you let them breed and it takes . she could possibly have to have a c-section which runs around 2200.00 and then could possibly die anyway . do yourself a favor and have her spayed this country does not need anymore puppies or dogs . Just walk through a shelter and see for yourself .

If the owner of the female is okay with the size diff. then don't worry about it. She will have to watch for problems in delivery the pups may be to big for the female to deliver. and need a c-section..it very common with small breeds...

When I was thinking about breeding my toy pom the vet told me that in order to keep her babies in the TOY category, I should make sure that the male is smaller than the female. Don't know exactly what relevance this had, just know what I was told. Good Luck
