Get a tattoo artist with a good reputation. Ask people with tattoos before you go there. Ask the how old theirs is.Look at the work and the style of the artist in the their prior tattoo books. I have had my tattoo for five years. It has not faded and still looks great.I have a lifetime color gaurantee if it does. They will redo it if it ever fades. I love butterflies. My sister has a fairy. My friend got a rose. Another one got a four leaf clover, "they call her lucky." Look at their books you will find something that just shouts, "That's me!"

Don't get tattooed because you can. Get tattooed because its something you want to do to mark a life passage, commemorate an event, or express your true self. If you are looking to others for ideas, you haven't given this enough thought. A tattoo is a very personal decision and is a lifetime committment.

don't get a dolphin or butterfly. take it from someone who has a lot of ink and has seen many girls with dolphins and cute little butterflies. if go to a good artist and you take care of it; it Will look nice when it is done. don't put anything but A&D ointment on it no matter what anyone tells you. i have seen may people brake out into rashes and their tattoo becomes hideous. best of luck and think about what you would want to see on you for life.

I wanted a tattoo, just didn't know of what, so I got a very small heart (not filled in) on my second toe. No one can see it, and I love it. Even when I wear open toe shoes, no one every notices. I love it, and I always look at it. Whatever you get, make sure you do it for you. There are plenty of things you can get and still keep it classy.

I'm not going to lie, my first reaction to your question was to be a complete smartass and tell you that tattoos are permanent, which does mean that it'll be there forever! But if you're looking for real advice here: First of all, YOU are the only person who should be making decisions about something you're going to put on your body, you have to see it every day! So, rather than asking for suggestions from others about a design or location for your first tattoo, you need to be doing research to find out what YOU like, what you want to see on yourself and where. You're going to end up with a lot of cliches when you say 'pretty and feminine,' but the truth is, you don't have to get a flower to find a design that is feminine, instead decide what interests you, look at pictures, art, nature...not just tattoo designs...literally, look around, get an idea, then you need to explore finding an artist who can create your idea in a way that is 'pretty and feminine.' Don't just choose some design off the wall, check out different shops and artists, look at their work and the style of it, and decide which artist's work best reflects your concept. Also, be open to suggestion from your artist, and by this i'm telling you that, yes, you need to go in with an idea, but don't get so stuck on one design in one specific way that you won't listen to the artists suggestions. If they tell you they don't think something will look good in a certain spot, I promise you, they know better than you do. You want to get what you want, but you also want it to look the best that it can, so just think for yourself, find a good artist, and let them do their job. Last, tats do look bad when they get severely faded. So, take care of it, it's not difficult. Many places will tell you to use different ointments or lotions to heal it and keep it moist, but I promise you, there is nothing in the world better that pure vitamin e oil, you're not introducing any chemicals into raw skin this way and e oil in one of nature's best healers. Get PURE e oil at an organic store, don't ever use lotions or anything else with alcohol in it while the tat is still healing! After you're healed, use a sunblock on your tat when you go in the sun. It doesn't have to be some huge elaborate care program the rest of your life, but general maintainance will keep it looking great for years. My last piece of advice... Do Not For Any Reason go to a cheap, buy-one-get-one, second-rate tattoo shop! I know some amazing artists who have spent years having to work in their living rooms because tattooing wasn't legal here for so long, but trusting someone i know personally to work on me in a basement is completely different from going to some stranger in one of those sleezy-looking, mass-produced body art shops that are so easy to find. Always remember, in most instances, you pay for what you get, and tattoos are generally no exception. Good artists charge more because their good! So, i honestly hope this might help you. I don't know how old you are, but rather than being a jackass and giving you a sarcastic answer, i wanted to try and counteract some of the silly advice you might potentially get out there. I got my first tat at 18, illegally, in one of those shops i mentioned, and A LOT more ink later, i have some incredible art on me. I don't dislike my first, but had i known then, i can promise you i would have done a few things different with my first 3. Take the time to think it thru, don't be in a rush to just get ink somewhere on your body, you're stuck with that body for the rest of your life! I hope that helps some. Happy hunting!

Ouch! Everyone's taste is different but may I suggest something like a rosebud that's just in/out of sight. If it's done properly it will never fade so factor into your costs the possible surgery to remove it.

Dont ever have a tattoo put on your body unless you plan to keep it the rest of your life, it doesn't fade and is a lot harder to get rid of than having it put on.

I would strongly suggest that you do some research on tattoos and such before you go and get one just because it suprises me that you want one yet you didn't even know that they were permanent??? Not sure if this question is a joke or not. Don't just get a tattoo to get a tattoo.

Tatoos are permanent and i think you should think really carefully before putting on one (later you might regret putting it). Choose a place which has a good reputation to have your tatoo and make sure it has a high standard of hygiene. If you really want to put a tatoo, choose a design which is cute and small.

As a woman I will tell you,Do not get one on your stomach if you plan to have children someday because my sis-in-law got a dolphin arched over her belly button and when she got pregnant it shifted and stretched out.So now it looks like crap.I have a plain little blue heart on my ankle and it has faded alittle but not enough to compromise the shape or appearance. Also my friend has a tramp stamp on her lower back and was not allowed an epidural when she was in labor because of it(don't ask me why).it lasts forever so be careful.
