What about the straw cups? I don't consider them "sippy cups"... You can buy a character one or the ones I really like are the Take & Toss ones by The First Years... Straw cups are a good step out of sippy cups because you can still take them out on-the-go with you and not worry about spills. Try using regular open cups at home during meals while she's seated at the table. And as far as "how" to get her off of it... Just take it away. If she was holding a butcher knife you would take it away. So, just throw out the sippy's and put out the straw cup and she will start using it. Good luck!

Why are parents so eager to get their kids off sippy cups, she'll give it up when she's ready. Also, if you drink from the lids at Starbucks then you're using a sippie cup. And by the way, I use a sippie cup at night when I go to bed.

I wouldn't try. A bottle may damage her teeth at that age, but I haven't heard of any bad effects of sippie cups. She'll want to be "grown up" soon enough, and in the meantime you have protection from spills.
But if you really want to, appeal to her desire to grow up.
Also, buy her a pretty cup with a cartoon character on it that she really likes. They make some cute cup and plate sets. Get her that and let her use it when she wants to.

get her some decorative cups and tell her those are her big girl cups. right away get rit of those sippie cups.
or you can do this: if you have a friend that has a todler and is starting to drink out of sippie cups, ask her if she wants to give them to the todler and then let her give them to the toddler.
hope this helps

What is wrong with her drinking out of a sippie cup? I would think it would be easier for you than having to wipe up spills. Give her time, she'll probably do it on her own

Replace them with "Big Girl Cups" get princess barbie what ever she's into. Tell her big girls drink from big girl cups! you can reward her for using the big girl cup instead of the "baby cup" ( not toys or candy necessarly) it could be extra play time making cookies, a sticker chart something she likes to do.something simple will be a big deal to her. good luck hope that helps

you don't. she will give it up on her own when she sees other kids with "grown up glasses" in the meantime, I think it would be practical to keep the sippie cup as long as possible to avoid spills etc.
afterall, adults use them too- i.e. coffee travel cups????

Just take it away from her. She is old enough to drink from a regular cup. Get her off of it the same way you done her bottle.
