It can be normal, almost all of my friends had some sort of spotting during pregnancy around 6 or 7 weeks. It can carry on for a few days and stop. Don't mean to be pessimistic but it can also be the start of a miscarriage, this happened to me.
Good luck

How far along is she? She may be at the stage where the placenta is attaching to the uterus wall and she will spot then. I suggest she gets checked out by her ob though. I spotted with all three of my children I lost one but had two perfect girls as well so the best advice I can give is to tell her to take it easy and to see her doctor.

If it is brownish, then it is old blood working it's way out, but if it is bright red, then she needs to be cautious. If it is enough to fill a pad, she needs to go to the ER. If it's less, she still needs to call the doctor tomorrow just to let them know. But don't worry, lots of women have some sort of spotting during their pregnancy, and still give birth to healthy babies.

she could be just watch and make sure it doesnt turn bright red, increase in volume, or that she doesnt get cramps or pain with it. Then i would call her OB ASAP if it continues even at a lite spotting just to be safe.I wish her the best
