You could eat it, but it wouldn't taste very good! Baking chocolate isn't as sweet as "eating" chocolate. It is designed for baking -- ie: to withstand high temperatures. If you just want to enjoy a good piece of chocolate, stick to the regular stuff! Personally, I prefer milk chocolate, but a lot of people like dark chocolate which, incidentally, has been found to have health benefits.

I agree with most everyone else on this. Before a choco-bar becomes an edible goodie, the cacao is mixed with sugar, milk and even wax (for substance) only then is it the popular bar we've all grown to know and love.

You could eat it, but you'd get sick before you finish the entire thing. Eating it would not be a pleasant experience, because it would be more bitter than anything you've ever tried. Ever taste cocoa powder? It's like that, but stronger.
If you want to eat good chocolate, don't look for high % of cacoa. It means less sugar and milk solids in the chocolate.

I have always thought baking chocolate was strictly made for baking not eating as a candy bar. I wouldn't eat it.

I'd eat it, and face it so would you if it was in a cake or used to make frosting. Difference is I'd eat it as is, but then my favorite chocolate snack is semi sweet baking chocolate.
