Instead of eating only 1350 cals, why not try increasing your exercise level? The more you exercise, the more cals you will burn, therefore allowing you to eat more calories a day. Some good things to eat that have a small amount of calories are light yogurt, veggies (carrots, peppers, cucumbers with some dip), a salad with a vinagrette dressing, grilled chicken or baked chicken with a small amount of extra virgin olive oil and some spices (sazon from Goya is a great seasoning), fruits, rice cakes (they have all different flavors, and they're pretty good). Also, try not to eat after 6 or 7 pm, because the less you eat at night, the more weight you will lose. Don't drive yourself crazy over it. You probably look fine, and being thin is not always the best thing in life. As long as you are helthy and incorporate some exercise into your day, you will be fine!! Good luck!!

It actually isn't near close to starving. You're probably just used to eating unhealthy, high calorie foods. Eating lots of vegetables and fruits will keep you under 1350. Have a bowl of Go Lean Crunch for breakfast (230 calories including 1/2 cup skim milk). That'll keep you full for a while because it's got a lot of fiber. For lunch, have a salad with some chicken breast, grilled, NOT fried. It'll be 200 calories maximum. You could even have a sandwich on a whole wheat pita bread. The pita is between 70 and 120 calories, which is a lot less than two pieces of regular bread. Eat it with some ham and lettuce or something. For dinner, try to stay away from carbs. They have high calories. Also, don't eat fast food or packaged foods. Those have a lot of calories too. Try cooking something yourself. Look for recipes online.

www.whfoods.com has a lot of recipes for the World's Healthiest Foods. Chicken breast, salads, egg white omelettes, cottage cheese. They all have low calories and can make great meals. Just do some "Low Calorie Recipe" searching on google. That's what I do.

Actually that's a lot of calories for a diet, be glad you can have that many, usually they want about 1200. You are not close to starving. Just learn to use those calories for foods that will fill you up. I know they are not the foods you would like, but to lose weight you have to work at it. Eat celery when you are hungry, it has almost nothing. Try jello, it will fill you right up and it doesn't taste all that bad. Eat veggies and fruits. Forget about packaged foods, eat fresh foods. Don't eat big amounts of protien, that's where you pick up a lot of calories, and make sure what you eat is lean, no fat.
You can do it, just put your mind to it and look at a calorie book. Memorize what is low in calories and go for those things. If your doctor has said this then it is important, please follow the rules he has set up, it's for your life.

If you are eating healthy, consume extra lettice and cabbage to help fill your stomach, these are mostly water and the added fiber will also aid in ridding your body of excess material. Cabbage boiled in broth will add extra water and mass to help fill you up without adding many extra calories. An alternative would be to get Guar Gum (or guaran) in pill form, or as a powder to put in your own capsles.
Guar Gum is a thermogenic (increases the body's adipose tissue metabolism) and it also slows the digestion of a meal, making you feel full longer. Make sure you drink a ton of water if you choose to go the Guar Gum route, in the 80's it was popular in diet suppliments but was pulled by the FDA because of esophegeal blockage due to not consuming enough water.
Before you do anything though, I would recommend you go back to your Dr and explain that you feel starving when only consuming 1350 calories a day and ask if you should look at taking a suppliment to help you feel full, or if you should work your way down to 1350 calories gradually.
Best of luck with your diet.

When I read 1350, I thought to myself "how are so many calories being assigned to lose weight?!"... Based on past experiences and eating habits, this amount may seem small and will probably leave you hungry, but know that the normal amount of calories assigned to lose weight if 1200-1400 calories a day. So, you are in the healthy range... eats lots and lots of fruit because fruit has a lot of fiber which is essential for digestion and it kicks up your metabolism. Also, for snacks, try yogurt and add in some almonds... again, fiber and calcium are a diet's best friend because it speeds up metabolism and helps you burn calories even quicker. Drink plenty of water, especially if you are exercising because your body needs to be hidrated in order to burn fat and lose weight!! Another snack idea, quaker rice cakes... delicious and only 60 calories!! the most important thing is to know what to eat and how much, so keep your limit around 1350 and try eating lots of protein because it makes you feel full (chicken, yogurt, almonds are key!, whole grains) and you will see results!! GOOD LUCK!

Lots of salads and water. I would rather exercise and have an extra 500 calories a day to play with. 1350!? That is way too low to survive. You will end up with headaches and be tired and miserable. Just be smart and eat the right kind of calories such as whole grain bread, cereals, fruits, veggies, low fat yogurt, lean meats.

Well, my suggestion is to go to the Richard Simmons website and buy his Food Mover program. It's not expensive and it really helps you stay within the range of calories the doctor suggested without you having to count every single item that goes in your mouth. The Food Mover has calorie cards based on what your current weight is. You slide it into the compact and then you see how many servings of each food group you are allowed each day, all you have to do is close a window after each serving.

A 1400 calorie card has :
5 servings of starches
3 servings of fruit
5 (1oz.) servings of protein
3 fat servings
5 servings of vegetables (non-starchy ones)
2 servings of dairy
1 bonus (like 12 chocolate chips, 1 large marshmellow, etc.)
8 (8oz) glasses of water per day

I've been on it 3 weeks and I'm feeling the results. It's very encouraging because I do not feel deprived. I also think that drinking that much water a day actually helps curb my appetite and stops the sweet cravings that I've always had.

Good luck to you!

1350 is not near starving. Remember you can eat almost as many fruits and veggies as you want. And make your favorite treats at home for a fraction of the calories. For example, hot chocolate from a coffee shop has around 350 calories for 12 ounces. Make it at home with real cocoa, real sugar and skim milk, and end up with under 100 calories.

My doctor told me 1800 calories to lose weight. With 1250 you will have to be very stingy with your food. I would suggest eating more vegetables than anything. You can eat a huge volume of vegetables without many calories. Throw in a portion of protein at each meal.

Break it into 6 small meals a day (every 2-3 hours). You will feel less hungry and your blood sugar will be balanced.
