Why does downloaded files automatically go to my desktop on Vista.?

I just got a new computer which came with Vista on it allready. I installed EverQuest and I started downloading the updates and every single file went straight to my desktop. I am so angry how do I keep this from happening?

When you begin the download, a window should open up asking you where you want it, ...just click away until you find the folder you want it to go, and it should put it there.
