Maybe the people of faith should mind their own business.

Here's the thing. The habitual sinner has the opportunity to repent, even if its on their death bed. The atheist has no chance (according to Christians). So will it matter if the atheist is a good person if in Christians eyes they are doomed anyway? This question, when analyzed, brings up many more questions. For example do religious people hold belief in god more important than being a good person? Sometimes it seems that they do. Some say that it is the same thing, and clearly its not. If it was then there would be no "habitual sinners that believe in god." Your question is a good one.

I would find it difficult to find a person who is a believer that is also a habitual sinner. The two just don't mesh well. I'm not trying to say that a believer will never sin...but that is not how I read your question. You said, habitual sinner which means to me that they bury themselves in sin... From a scientific perspective, people live according to what they believe to be true, whether it be a religious faith, a political stand or even how to be a good husband, wife or employee. You are what you believe so it doesn't make sense that a person who truly believes in God (not merely his existance but in his commandments etc) would not live what he or she believed. As is said in the Bible...you shall know them by their works. It is also said....faith without works is dead. Because of that, I would prefer the atheist...at least they are being honest.

A habitual sinner who believes in God, no body like a hypocrit, but I am a person of faith that is not a person of the Christian faith.

Habitual sinner. He denies the power of God in his life and when the atheist can't see God's power why would he want to change or even research the claims of Christianity.

Neither. There both people.

On the other hand, the sinner brings down the very purpose of God, and sets a bad example for others to see, while an atheist merely lives his own life, and most of them very moral ones.

So on second thought, the sinner.

What I think is of no account. However, at judgment day God is going to judge that atheist differently. They are a sinner, too.....who rejected Him. The other? A sinner who mourns his sin, and believes. God tells us it will go better for the latter.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Hebrews 10:26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people." 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

A unrepentant sinner is worse in Gods Eyes because that person knows the truth.
