There really is only one practice that I know works, but its very nature is diligent conscientious effort in every action of life, so as not to have habitual wandering mind syndrome. If you are lucid all the time awake, then you will be when asleep too. If you are not lucid when asleep, then you're living in speculation, imagination, or habit more than consciously when awake too.

I have done it twice by accident. I read a book on lucid dreaming once and was intrigued. I don't know that there is a solid method, but it wasn't until I learned it was possible and read the book that it occured. I suppose it took feeding my brain the idea and just letting it sort out the means to accomplish it through time - probably not an accident afterall.

A nice relaxing meditative tape before bed. Listen as you fall asleep.

I'm still trying to figure out how to do it on purpose, I do it frequently by chance or someone else does it for me, but I can't do it myself.

LSD?

Seriously, though, why would you WANT to separate your mind from your body? Seems like the two should stick together, watch each other's backs.
