It depends on if it has sugar or not. If you drink a bit of diet soda it shouldn't effect a diet. Of course every diet says drink water, which you should do, but I've been on a diet and not cut out all soda and lost weight. Don't believe everything that you read.

well sir, each can has 160 cals in it or so. Or 130 cals, not sure. At any rate if you drink 21 sodas you will gain one pound of fat. So if you are drinking them on top of what you are eating, then eventually you will put on weight. Phosphoric acid in it is very bad, as it will destroy your teeth and has otehr bad effects. The processed sugars will cause a small insulin spike which isnt that healthy. Sugars promote tooth decay and have absolutely no nutrtional value. What does it do to your body? It makes you fat if you dont watch your calories, decays your teeth, is anti anabolic, no nutritional value, causes a small insulin spike. hope this answers your question, im not even going to get into diet sodas....
Oh yeah, you can clean your toilet with coca cola!

It depends on your metabolism, age, health, and your weight.
I'm 50 years old, and drank sodas for over 40 years, and weigh over 350 pounds, have really high blood pressure and take a pile of medicine to keep from having a heart attack or a stroke.
I found out a few years ago that I could no longer drink Pepsi without serious leg and knee pain, stiffness and swelling. Coke didn't bother me. I quit drinking all sodas several years ago in preparation for a hospital stay, and was finallly able do quit my caffiene addiction. Water is all-around better, plus it doesn't rot my teeth, either.

a soda every once in a while wont effect anything but if you are addicted to a certain sode the sugar makes you gain weight. and most diet sodas have artificial sugar which is habit forming so even though they are technically healthier you drink more.

The thing about soda is that one can can contain up to 16 teaspoons of sugar in it. Consuming all this sugar puts you at risk for diabetes. Plus, sugar converts to fat in your body. Diet sodas are usually made with aspartame, which is under fire right now for causing health problems. I would suggest drinking diet sodas that are made with splenda, which is a more natural sugar substitute.
