I have FAITH that He exists. May that God will open your heart, and you will accept Jesus Christ into your life.

How can you not? Sometimes there is such a difference in outlook between atheists and Christians that any attempt to explain their views to one another is like butting heads. I'm not sure I could make you really understand why I believe, any more than you can make me understand why you don't. But I'll try: I believe in God because all my life I have felt Him calling me, even when- like you- I wanted to reject Him. He's defended me when I couldn't stand alone. He's caused my heart to fill with wonder looking up at the stars, or at trees, or listening to the sound of deer walking on rocks on a creek bank. He's calmed me when I was fearful. He's blessed me with a faithful, loving husband and three children that I wasn't medically supposed to have. Does any of that make sense to you? Because it's only the tip of the iceberg. I could go on all day if you had the patience. I congratulate you for seeking honest answers, rather that just looking to ridicule what is different from yourself, as so many of the atheists come on here to do. Forgive me if I say I will pray for you to find the answer you seek, from One who can explain far better than I.

Being an athiest you are probably going to be unbelieving of whatever replies you are going to recieve because they might seem far fetched. Any religion (or state of) requires faith. Even atheists have faith, faith in that no higher deity exists. I personally believe that everything around us did not just evolve. I believe in the process of evolution but I believe it is set forth by a higher power (God.) I don't believe it is by chance that two particles in space colided together and formed our planet and I do not believe it is just chance that we have enough nutrients to survive.

This might seem absurd but I am actually going to quote Futurama on this one because it actually made sense. "When you do things right people will not be sure that you did anything at all" (this would be the episode where God is speaking to bender), Any way I believe that is true. That if God infact did commit miracles every time that we asked we would become so dependent on him we would expect resolution to all our problems.

Yet we take for granted every morning our loved ones wake up, every beautiful sunset that is set before us, every new breath that is taken, and even the warmth of the sun on our cheek. I believe those things don't happen becuase of some chance evolutionary process I believe things are set into place by God, if not a christian God, by some higher deity that is knowing of human tendencies and that realizes that we cannot be dependant on him rather we must have faith.

The only reason you are an atheist is because you have never had an experience of anything that you could recognize as God's presence. That doesn't mean that you will go the rest of your life never understanding how others "can" believe. When you do experience Him, then you will understand and everything else will begin to fall into place for you. His son, His word, His love, His promise.

I appreciate your asking an honest question without being sarcastic or rude. That isn't typical on Answers. I pray that God will hear you and reveal His truth to you, that you can first hand know the answer to your seeking.

I guess the better question would be how come you don't believe, there is actually more evidence God exists than doesn't. Read the book by Josh McDowell, I believe the name is Evidence That Demands a Verdict, he was an atheist trying to prove once and for all God did not exists, but he ended up finding out a lot more. You may find you have alot in common.

I beleive there is a god, but I do not claim for a second to know it. I also beleive that we were created by this being, but only in the sense of creating a tree by planting a seed and leaving it to grow on it's own. The universe was given the building blocks to get started and everything just naturally progressed.

For all we know, god may have died years ago, or may walk among us. It's a bit naive in my opinion to beleive that nothing came from nothing, though. Energy cannot be created or detroyed. Perhaps god was the embodiment of energy that created the universe? In that sense, we've all got a little god in us, as well as every other living or inanimant thing.

We all try to fill a void that I believe God puts lovingly in all of us. You look all around you and even at the human body and realize a Superior Being had to have created all this, it didn't just happen. Then, you are convicted that God is real and then desire to know This God who created you and everything. So, you read God's Word to get to know Him and have faith that what you are reading is true. Then you read that to get to the Father, you must go thru His Son Jesus who died for you to redeem you of your sins. Then you fall in love with God/Jesus as the Holy Spirit indwells you, convicts you and guides you thru His Word and thru life. Once you have this intimate relationship with Jesus, have the Holy Spirit indwelling you, YOU JUST KNOW!! And no one can ever talk you out of it or take this away from you. But you must be willing to let go and let God. Let go of your human limited mind understanding. Let go of what others who do not believe tell you and finally let go of the pride that holds you back from the most wonderful life here and eternally you will have with God. Stop trying to disprove God just because in your flesh, you do not understand. You will be a new creation in Christ when you believe, I guarantee. God bless you.

It is as easy to believe in God as it is to believe that matter and/or energy and space itself, magically appeared. After a cosmic explosion, an amoeba mutated into the millions of life forms found on Earth.

Truly, what is the difference in the level of faith one must have to except either story? One story ends with nothing. The other ends with the reward of eternal life as it was meant to be.

First of all, I find it difficult to not believe in God. There is too much proof of His existence. I believe in Him because I can feel His presence, and when ever I get away from God, I feel
a great Void, and emptiness.
Every race of people in every corner of the world have always believed in God. just because you can't see God is no reason to not believe in Him. The wind blows, you can't see it, but you can see the things it touches, you don't know where it came from nor where it's going, but you know it's there.
