Of course safety is my over riding concern. But some of the quotes I have gotten thus far have been very high. I know, I know, just do it myself right?? Well, I am not well versed in that field. I would much rather pay SOMEONE ELSE to do it.

Fence it in. Covers aren't kid proof. You can check with the local government on the laws in your area to know if there are fencing laws so if you do put it up it will be regulation.

Depending on where you live I would check the state's laws or city laws. I know in California if you have a pool of any size you have to have a fence a certain size high. Personally, I would do both, build a six foot fence and use a cover to keep the environment out. If cost is an issue, why have a pool? Don't you think a child's life if more important?

Well, if cost is a concern, you could investigate how to do it yourself. With a few friends, it would be a great challenge, and everyone would learn something new. What a sense of accomplishment you'd all feel when you're done. If anything, maybe you could sub-contract out a few parts? Or, on the flip side, you could rid yourself of the pet, and keep a close eye on the kid(s). They should never be left unattended.

FENCE IT AND COVER IT. What price are you willing to PAY to keep your loved ones safe?

Best way to kid/pet proof your pool is to install a substantial fence and my be required by local or state laws. Chain link is not pretty but it is effective and is relatively inexpensive to purchase and install. A pool cover will keep the junk out but perhaps not the kids/dogs.

I wouldn't trust a cover alone. I'd do the fence. You can buy these panels. You put in your poles and then between them, instead of putting up individual boards, you just put up these pre-made panels. I hear they're pretty cost effective and not at all difficult. If you still don't want to do it yourself...buy the supplies and offer somebody a little cash to put them up for you.
