South beach is a low carb, low fat diet. You can't have carbs, and meats have to be low fat, like chicken and turkey. You can eat certain fruits, like blueberries, but it's very limited.
Just be careful with this diet, because I was on a similar low carb diet, and all though I did lose weight quickly, as soon as I added the carbs back in, all the weight came back plus 10lbs! Try searching some other options of weight loss if you want a more long term effect.

I have the book - - - which I wish I could show you because after reading through it I knew it wasn't for me! Let's see, you are allowed water, coffee & unsweet tea. For the first 14 days you cannot have bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, or baked goods. No fruit for 2 weeks. No candy, cake or anything with sugar for 2 weeks. This is phase 1.
After phase 1 (2 weeks), you will gradually add back in some foods that you couldn't eat before. In phase 2 you can add some healthy carbs - - - fruit, whole grain bread, whole grain rice, whole grain wheat pasta, sweet potatoes. You stay in phase 2 until you reach your target weight. Then I guess phase 3 is maintenance.
You really need to read the book in order to get a full understanding of how the diet works, meal suggestions and what you can and cannot eat. You can probably go to your local library and get this book if you cannot find a copy at the nearest store (or Walmart). Looks like there's some pretty good and easy recipes in the book too. Not to be obnoxious, but just get the book. It will tell you everything you need to know. Better to spend the money, read the whole thing, understand the principals of the diet then ask what you can eat on the diet. It is basically scientifically set up so that you reallly have to understand what you are eating and why. If not the diet won't work for you.
