And yes, I have read likely a lot more of the bible than many of you who called me names and tried to insist that no other 'belief' other than your own, is valid. Your religion is not based on any thing other than faith. Too bad it is not based on good.

The basis of religion are two things...hope of immortality and pseudo sense of superiority over others..the latter answers your question.
Ever seen a non-believer try to convert a believer? it's always the other way, why? because most non-believers at peace with who they are and don't need to validate and assure themselves by seeing other people do the same as they are.

You are right, it is wrong for people to force their faith based beliefs. It hurts when others condemn us for not sharing their beliefs. I went through a similar thing when after reading and studying the Bible I stopped being Christian. Try to remember that for some people hearing that someone doesn't share their cherished beliefs is threatening. Their beliefs are such a part of their identity it is to them like you are rejecting them as an individual. This is especially true in a culture with one very dominant religion like ours. Plurality is not the norm, conformity of belief is more expected. If you try to realize the fear at the root of their behavior it helps to understand it, forgive it, and move on.

It's good that you've read it. And yes, my belief is based on faith. I'm sorry if you feel people are "pushing" their beliefs on you. Have you considered that they are only trying to share with you a good thing they've found? After all, you are on the religion and spirituality board. That's what people come here to talk about.

Young man, yes we still believe in the Bible, and as far as trying to push it on you, is not the exact truth. When we see a person blindfolded walking toward an open pit of fire, we naturally want to steer them in the right direction. Just because that person can't see that open pit, doesn't mean that it's not there.

it sounds more like you have trouble relating to others.i beleive it is you that needs to learn patience and understanding of others. beleive me i do know how u do fell on some levels.. u need to learn to tell people but in a nice and gentle way that u are not interested but would not mind their friendship instead.
i do beleive in god but that doesnt mean others may try to convert me into their doctines and beliefs.
i kindly listen to them and then i tell them what i believe in then they go on their merry way.
religion and the teachings of the principles of god is sacred.
keep an open mind and dont judge others.if u beleive ur church is what u beleive in just say so. but the other is should still choose to choose to believe in their own private way also.
it doesnt hurt to learn about others faiths.

Sounds like your stooping to their level.

Lots of beliefs are valid, for that matter, non belief is valid, and they are VALID because there is no way to prove or disprove any of them.

As a general rule though, if you dont like people to say mean things to you, its probably a good idea not to antagonize them.
If you cant say anything nice........

BillD has it ever occured to you that we care so much about you and your eternal life that we keep sharing our faith with you based on the scriptures. Are you reading them with a closed mind so the Holy spirit can not bring conviction upon you. What are you afraid of-Open your blind eyes, and deaf ears and hear the Lord pleading with you to accept His redemptive love on calvary so that you spend eternal life with Him and not with the devil.I fought the Lord for 40 years and then believed by faith and I have incredible peace for my eternity no matter the trials here on earth He allows to refine me. He loves me that much. And "whosoever will...."
