I worked at starbucks for 2 years. It was customary for our patrons to just round up to the next dollar, basically just throw in the change. If someone did not tip anything we would be a little bit annoyed, but we wouldn't show it. The reason you tip the workers is because they are making your drink...it completely goes to the workers...not even the managers. None of it goes to the corporation itself, so all you people saying that the drinks are overpriced, thats true, but you shouldn't penalize the hard working baristas there for the corporate pricing. I always tip now...before I didnt. but working there changed my perspective

If this could be a comedian tale, what the hell, I study this in Wikipedia, so i'm sharing: "Starbucks has a 'you-call-it' way of existence allowing the customer to specify all changes to the drink. as an occasion somewhat of in simple terms ordering a eating place Mocha, shoppers can order an iced-decaf-triple-grande-5 pump-soy-no whip-Mocha. Any beverage could have particularly some flavored syrups and whipped cream may well be extra. " get excitement from your espresso! :D

I usually just put in the change from my order. The drink is usually $3.65 and I place the rest in the tip jar. That's 35 cents. I figure that's about right. If the barista is really good and I regularly go there, I'll probably add more to the tip.

Its not customary.
It takes them 1 or 2 minutes tops serve you.
A restaurant server serves you for at least 0.5 hrs and usually more and are tipped 15%. This is a much more stressful job.

That is right. The coffee is so freaking expensive and you want to tip them? They have got some pretty snobbish people working there. So, there's no reason to tip them. It's like tipping a person in McDonalds for making you a McChicken.

you don't really use percentages. You round up to the next dollar if they are decent, and add another dollar if they are exceptionally good. If it's a hot chick give her a 5-spot in her hand and a wink ;)

My custom is to tip nothing. I tip for table service, not for standing at a counter and waiting.
