sometimes I wonder how deeply is God managing our lives - He gave us free will, but He also makes things happen. Can you tell me - based on scripture - how God wants us to deal with e.g. careerplans, management decisions etc. besides on general christian principle. How much does He want us to use common sense and self help ? Good hard work ? O just reliance on Him? Serious answers please as some of our fellow Christians ask me and sometimes I am at a loss to determine His influence or just basic human activities. thank you and may God Bless You

free will has nothing to do with god or with heavens...
Man is condemned to make a choice in every second of his life. Some choices are good for him and some arent. Whether he is fully aware of the consequences of his choices is more important than whether he has free will or not. He may sincerely think that the option he chooses is good for him and for mankind but it may come out the other way around. At such cases he cant be held responsible. The problem is that most of our choices are made in full ignorance of the consequences.

We are to seek first the Kingdom of God. Good hard work is good and so is reliance upon Him. We can have both. Money is good to have as long as it doesn't have us. Nothing in this life should cause our relationship with God to stop growing. We are admonished to throw off every weight that so easily besets us. If the job interferes with regular church attendance then we must make a stand for what is important. Emphasis should be made regarding the prayer relationship with God. A good talk with God and listening to His still small voice can usually give one the answer they already knew anyway, had they been honest with themselves. Lots of times people will seek counsel from others in hopes that they will tell them something else other then what they already know God has decided for them. Hope this helped.

I think your question ended up being more of a philosophical one than a theological one. Will has to do with the ability to look to God for salvation, not whether we can make our own career plans, management decisions, etc.

What is God's influence? If I'm going to worship God, he would have to have all of the influence, not just some, not just pushing me to a decision, not leaving me alone, not hoping or planning, but having the power to change my heart all by himself without my help. And that's how I believe, anything else may as well be the worship of myself. And there's enough of that going around.

I'm agnostic, not a christian, but all veiw points are equally valid. I don't think that "god" has much to do with what happens. I beleive this "god" created the building blocks of the universe, and then left it to grow as it would. What this means is that we do have free will, and "god's" only influence is through faith and what the seperate religions teach. Right and wrong is in the minds of all of us. Right and wrong are one in the same with good and evil, "god" and "satan." We are what remains of "god" the way I see it, because without us the term would mean nothing and religion would cease to exist.

The question is not is that God is controlling out lives for He is not, what the Bible is saying and preacher of the past and many today should be saying is that God even before time, did not plan it, but He already KNEW everything, but He is gives us free will to choose, he just know, what we are going to choose, and why is that is, i can say, for God has not told us, in any religion, so that is a secret

There is a joke I heard visiting a Lutheran church one time that involved a man who somehow or another found himself in the middle of a river, though he couldn't swim. A boat came by and the people aboard offered help by throwing out a life preserver to which the man replied, "No thanks, God will save me." The boat went on. A man from the shore threw out a rope and hollered to grab it, but the man said "No thanks, God will save me." A helicopter flew overhead and dropped down a ladder, but the man declined and said "No thanks, God will save me." The man drowned and went to Heaven. When he asked God why he didn't save him, God replied, "I sent a boat with a life preserver, a man with a rope, and a helicopter with a ladder to help you. What more do you want from me?" I know that isn't scripture, but the point was to use some common sense and realize that God is working every day in your life through the people and circumstances around you.

God will guide our footsteps (He's not going to push us in the right direction we have to take a step to give Him something to guide)when we seek His best plan for our lives...His does have a plan for us and it is a perfect plan but by giving us the free will to decide there are many times when we don't necessarily choose what is best.

God is sovereign and good, he knows what decision you are going to make and romans 8 says that he works all things together for good for those who love him...the first thing you must do is make Jesus the center of everything, also you must pray to him for every decision, whether small or big...ask him, and if you make the wrong decision remember, he works all things together for good...

He has a plan and purpose and despite our free will the greater plan and purpose will be done according to His will. For example if nobody accepted Christ 's sacrifice except for one person, God's will was still done. It was accomplished even if the other billions of people rejected it.

I'll say this, my free will almost got the best of me until the Lord God, intervened and helped me straighten my life out.
He will let you go on your own for awhile, and when need Him,
He will be there.
