I'm not a huge martini drinker, but I do enjoy one from time to time. I'm going out to a restuarant with a great bar, what kind of martini should I ask for. Most of the martinis I have had were made at people's homes, and were very fruity.

I know I can order, an appletini or a chocolate martini. But, what are some other fruity martinis that I can order at a bar. I need to know names, so that I can go up to the bar, order and know what I'm getting.

Ideas?

You can ask for a Cosmopolitan, which is a sophisticated fruity martini made with cranberry, vodka, and triple sec. Ask for it shaken straight up. They are very gooooood. Hope this helps ya a little bit :)

I know a little bit about martinis, not so much about the fruity ones, but anywho.
The true authentic martini is made of:
- Vodka (the better Vodka the better Martini)
- Vermouth (liquor)
- Olive Juice
...............That's it.

NOW, the variations on this mixture (I love them):
- Order a Martini "extra dirty"
This means that you want extra olive juice.
- Order a Martini "extra dry"
This means you want less Vermouth
- I order them, "extra dirty extra dry"
This means that I want just good Vodka (grey goose/kettle one), just a splash of vermouth in the glass then dump it out and just leave what clings to the glass, and extra olive juice. This is the best I swear! =-)

As for the fruity "martinis," they really are not martinis, more like mixed vodka drinks in a martini glass, but I agree, some are very tasty.

*** You really should try and order a martini "extra dirty" at least and experiment till you find whether you like 'em dirty or dry - you really may like it... =-)

People I know who are martini fans always answer "Vodka Martini, Absolute, olives, with ice on the side." When a bartender hears that they know they are talking to someone who has tried it all and not an amateur looking for a fancy lemonade drink..

Why don't you just ask for a real martini instead of the silly fruity stuff?
