A few months ago, I started to get a small patch of dry skin on my elbow. I thought nothing of it, and figured it was no big deal. It has now become a one inch by one inch patch of rough cracked skin, and I finally put some lotion on it(Gold Bond Triple Action). I also noticed a patch of dry skinabout 3 inches up my arm from the elbow, on my forearm, but like the other one started, it is very small. I don't do doctors and hospitals, and I know that's probably dumb, but I just don't think it's a big deal. Anyone know what this might be, and how I can treat it? Also it was a little sensetive to the cream I put on last night. I don't know if that's important, but figured I'd share. Thank you for any help you may have. Oh, it also hurts quite a bit if I lean on it.

You should go to the doctor. It could just be eczema, but it could also be "Actinic Keratoses" (a scaly or crusty bump that forms on the skin surface) which if left untreated can turn into skin cancer. And what you desrcibed sounds like that "might" be a posibility. If skin cancer runs in your family, then you should go to the doctor.

Eczema is no fun! I've had it for many years and you'll find that it will come and go. You'll be so much happier if you bite the bullet and go see a doctor. There's a simple prescription cream you can get that works wonders! Winter always seems to bring mine out. But it's different for everyone. Stress can also get it started. Most people that have eczema usually also suffer from allergies and sometimes asthma. Goodluck and get that prescription it's only going to get worse. All that over the counter stuff is only going to make it irritate it..
